We offer a flexible working policy that supports a healthy balance between personal and professional well-being. This role requires in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays to collaborate, connect, and learn from peers, while also maintaining the flexibility for meaningful work-life balance.Being a Controller at iManage Means…You will own the integrity of iManage's global accounting operations, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and serving as a key member of the CFO's leadership team. You'll lead Accounting and Accounts Payable, partner closely with Internal Audit, and set the standard for how a scaling, global SaaS company closes its books, controls its risk, and reports its results.
This role is as much about people and process as it is about numbers. You'll build a high-performing accounting organization, strengthen the control environment as iManage grows, and partner across FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Commercial Ops, and IT to make sure the financial backbone of the company scales with the business.
iM Responsible For…
  • Owning the global accounting close process, including technical accounting judgments, revenue recognition under ASC 606, and the timely delivery of accurate, consolidated financial statements.
  • Leading and developing the Accounting and Accounts Payable teams, setting the standard for accuracy, control, and continuous improvement in day-to-day operations.
  • Partnering with Internal Audit, which reports directly to this role, to maintain a strong internal control environment and drive audit readiness across the organization.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the annual audit from planning through completion.
  • Partnering with the CFO and the FP&A team on financial statement analysis, board and leadership reporting, and ad hoc financial questions.
  • Collaborating with IT on the financial systems roadmap, a dotted-line relationship, to ensure the general ledger and reporting infrastructure scale with the business.
  • Partnering with Commercial Ops, Treasury, and Tax on connected processes, including cash application, billing, collections, and treasury reconciliations.
  • Driving process improvement and automation across the close, reconciliation, and reporting cycles, including evaluating AI-powered tools where they improve accuracy and speed.
  • Ensuring compliance with US GAAP and, where applicable, statutory and local reporting requirements across iManage's global entities.
  • Building and mentoring a high-performing accounting organization that scales with iManage's growth.
iM Qualified Because I Have…
  • An active CPA license.
  • Ten-plus years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or a controllership role at a SaaS or technology company (title commensurate with experience).
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) for subscription and SaaS businesses.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong internal controls, with exposure to SOX or SOX-readiness environments.
  • A track record of managing external audit relationships and leading teams through the annual audit process.
  • People leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to develop accounting and accounts payable teams.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern ERP or general ledger system (for example, NetSuite) and financial close tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting matters for non-finance executives and the board.
Bonus Points If I Have…
  • Experience in a global, multi-entity SaaS company.
  • Experience partnering with Internal Audit and/or building a SOX compliance program from the ground up.
  • A public accounting background at a Big Four or national firm.
Don't meet every qualification listed above? Studies show that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet all qualifications. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
