The summary above was generated by AI

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, Peregrine helps public safety organizations, state and local and governments, federal agencies, and private-sector institutions address society’s challenges with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Our AI-enabled platform turns siloed and disconnected data into operational intelligence — instantly surfacing mission-critical information to empower better, faster decisions that improve outcomes at every touchpoint. Today Peregrine supports hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, serving more than 125 million people — and we’re amplifying our impact as we expand into the enterprise and internationally.

The Role

As Controller, you'll partner with the CFO to scale Peregrine's existing accounting organization and infrastructure for the company's next stage of growth. You will manage the external audit relationship and oversee the evolution of our finance systems, policies, and controls. We're looking for someone who combines technical judgment with operating experience, capable of determining what to build now while preparing the organization for significantly greater scale. The ideal candidate has worked in both the ambiguity of a high-growth startup and the rigor of a mature private or public company and will help build the financial infrastructure required to support the business as it grows. This role reports directly to the CFO.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and scale Peregrine's accounting organization, including GL, revenue, AP, AR, financial reporting, and related accounting operations.
  • Own and improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership across complex matters, including Peregrine's evolving subscription, professional services, and consumption-based revenue models.
  • Lead Peregrine through its first external financial statement audit and establish a sustainable audit and financial reporting process.
  • Build and strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and governance appropriate for the company's next stage of growth.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of NetSuite and continue developing a scalable, technology-enabled finance infrastructure.
  • Support continued international expansion, including new entities, global consolidation, and statutory reporting.
  • Build and develop a high-performing accounting team while establishing the infrastructure necessary for future public-company readiness.
What We Are Looking For
  • Significant progressive accounting and finance experience within high-growth technology companies, including accounting leadership responsibility.
  • Experience operating in both startup/growth-stage and larger-scale environments preferred, with a track record of building accounting organizations and processes through significant growth.
  • Ability to develop strong cross-functional partnerships with stakeholders across the finance org and broader business.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, including meaningful revenue recognition experience within enterprise software, SaaS, consumption-based revenue, and professional services, as well as stock-based comp.
  • Experience leading external audits and building scalable close, reporting, controls, and accounting processes.
  • Experience implementing or meaningfully optimizing ERP and finance systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Public-company and/or IPO-readiness experience preferred.
  • International accounting and consolidation experience preferred.
  • Exposure to government contracting or other complex/regulated customer environments is a plus.
  • Big 4 experience and CPA strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale a high-performance accounting team and strong team culture.
  • Willing to work in our San Francisco office 4x/week

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
