Mob Entertainment is a startup multimedia studio that is best known for our hit indie horror game "Poppy Playtime".  This franchise is one of the hottest new properties in gaming, and our team is naturally expanding as our ambition expands.  To give a taste of our brand's popularity, more than 100 billion YouTube views of Poppy Playtime related content have occurred since the game's launch 4 years ago. 


Position Overview:

As a Community & Social Manager at Mob Entertainment, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaged gaming community around our titles, with a particular focus on our newest upcoming title. You will be the bridge between our players and our development team, ensuring that our community's voice is heard,  their needs are met, and our brand is amplified on social channels. You will have the opportunity to shape our games' communities and leave a lasting impact on our player base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement:
    • Build and nurture a passionate gaming community by creating and maintaining strong relationships with players through various platforms such as Discord, social media, and in-game chats.
    • Respond to player inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and helpful manner.
    • Organize and host community events, contests, and giveaways to drive engagement.
  • Content Creation:
    • Create engaging and relevant content (static, and video) along with an internal art team for social media channels, Discord, and blogs.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote game updates, events, and news within the community.
  • Feedback and Insights:
    • Gather player feedback and insights to provide valuable input to the development team for game improvements and updates. This must be done in a highly organized and strategic manner that helps the development team understand what to prioritize.
    • Monitor community sentiment and trends to proactively address potential issues.
    • Establish a regular reporting structure to be used as guidance for the development teams.
    • Lead community playtests for upcoming releases. Understand what tools are required for organized playtests and onboarding.
  • Moderation and Enforcement:
    • Set up, configure, and maintain Discord servers, including channels, roles, permissions, and bots.
    • Enforce community guidelines and policies, ensuring a positive and safe gaming environment.
    • Work closely with the moderation team to manage and resolve conflicts and disputes.
  • Community Advocacy:
    • Act as the voice of the community within the company, advocating for player needs and concerns during development discussions.
    • Collaborate with product managers and developers to align game features with community expectations.
  • Community Growth:
    • Develop strategies to increase the size and engagement of the gaming community on both Discord and social media channels.
    • Identify and partner with influential community members (e.g., influencers and content creators) to expand our reach.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of proven experience in community and social media management for video games or similar products.
  • Strong knowledge of gaming culture and trends.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media management and community platforms (Discord, Reddit, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm for video games and a genuine passion for engaging with the gaming community.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Monday.com, or similar.
  • Experience setting and tracking KPIs for social media impact and growth.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with the Poppy Playtime IP (either as a viewer and/or a player).
  • Experience as a content creator.
  • Experience running influencer programs.

Contract Rate

The contract rate for this position is listed below. Final compensation within the applicable salary range will be determined based on factors such as the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and work location.

San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; & Seattle, WA DC Metropolitan Areas:   $41.00 - $55.00 USD hourly

Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; & Miami, FL Metropolitan Areas:  $36.00 - $47.00 USD hourly

All Other U.S. Locations: $31.00 - $40.00 USD hourly
