· Use and evaluate undocumented software to understand the problems an audience is having or would probably have

· Envision the best way to address problems through documentation

· Perform gap analysis of existing content and content plans

· Work with minimal supervision and proactively discover and resolve documentation needs

· Research and create well-written documents with excellent design, clarity, and concision


This position is full-time and remote.

  • Is adept at writing for, curating, and organizing large, complex documentation sets
  • Can understand complex software systems, quickly grasp how new interfaces and features work, and maintain the ability to see things through the eyes of a novice user
  • Identifies content gaps independently
  • Is highly responsive to internal and external customer needs
  • Pivots gracefully to meet unexpected exigencies
  • Is interested in taking on RFP writing as needed
  • Continuously innovates so as to increase process simplicity and efficiency while (ideally) improving outcomes 
  • Works independently and/or collaboratively as needed
  • Eagerly adds value to projects--without extensive supervision
  • Sets goals informed by ROI to customers and company
  • Is adept at writing for end users and engineers
  • Has full, functional mastery of Standard American English for UX help content and long-form help content
  • Has a Bachelor's degree in technical communication, English, philosophy, computer science, a closely related field, or commensurate and relevant experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a writer at a software company. We welcome more experienced candidates.

  • This position is perfect for a talented, motivated autodidact who understands how developers make software and how customers would use that software. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently producing and managing documentation for industry-leading enterprise software products
  • Analyzing the needs of disparate internal and external audiences and tailoring documentation to those needs
  • Writing about technical concepts with clarity and concision
  • Editing and improving documents drafted by other teams
  • Writing, clarifying, and sharpening UI text
  • Proactively collaborating with product owners, developers, QA engineers, and implementation managers
  • Prioritizing documentation requests based on potential ROI, with efficiency and transparency
  • Designing documents that convey information quickly, intuitively, and as simply as possible
  • Using industry-standard tools for authoring and documentation and project management (Atlassian suite)
  • RFP writing and editing
