ABOUT RETELL AI

Retell AI is using first principles to reimagine the call center with cutting-edge voice AI.

We believe voice is still the most natural way humans communicate, yet it has been trapped in outdated call centers for decades. Our mission is to bring intelligence, empathy, and speed to every phone conversation between businesses and their customers.

Since launching 18 months ago, thousands of companies now use Retell’s AI voice agents to handle sales, support, and logistics calls that once required large teams of human agents. Backed by Y Combinator, Altman Capital, and other top investors, we’ve scaled to $30 M ARR with a team of just 20, up from $5 M at the start of 2025.

We’re now scaling fast — and looking for a scrappy, hands-on writer who wants to make a measurable impact at one of the fastest-growing Voice AI startups in the world.

Let’s build the future of voice automation together.

We’re a Top 50 AI App on the a16z list: link

and one of the top-ranked startups on the Lean AI Leaderboard.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is not a manager or strategy role.

This is a hands-on content writer role — you’ll personally write, edit, and ship content that drives measurable results.

You can (and should) use AI tools to boost speed and quality, but the writing must feel human, sharp, and impactful.

Your work will be tied to KPI-driven goals like SEO rankings, traffic growth, and lead conversion. You’ll be expected to own outcomes, not just output.

We move fast and expect the same energy — this role suits someone who’s hungry, thrives in startup chaos, and isn’t afraid of hard work.

If you’re the kind of person who’s scrappy, disciplined, and willing to work 50-70h per week to build something legendary, you’ll fit right in.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Write and publish SEO-optimized content: Long-form articles, guides, and explainers that rank, convert, and build Retell’s brand authority.

  • Drive measurable growth: Set and own content KPIs — traffic, backlinks, engagement, conversions.

  • Own on-page SEO performance: Use Ahrefs, SEMrush, or SurferSEO to identify opportunities and improve visibility.

  • Expand backlink profile: Pitch guest posts and build relationships to secure high-quality links.

  • Collaborate across teams: Align messaging with product, marketing, and sales.

  • Support storytelling: Write landing pages, case studies, social posts, and brand narratives that make people remember us.

  • Analyze and iterate: Track results, learn from data, and refine content for maximum ROI.

  • Leverage AI tools smartly: Use AI for ideation and efficiency — not as a crutch.

YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU
  • Are a true writer — someone who loves the craft and owns the performance of what they publish.

  • Have experience writing for SaaS, AI, or B2B tech companies.

  • Are fluent in SEO and conversion-driven content.

  • Are data-minded and care about measurable impact.

  • Are scrappy, fast, and relentless in chasing growth.

  • Have excellent work ethic — you take pride in working hard and shipping daily.

  • Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Jasper, etc.) to accelerate, not replace, your thinking.

BONUS POINTS
  • Experience in sales enablement or growth content.

  • Familiarity with analytics tools like GA, HubSpot, or Notion dashboards.

  • Background in startups or fast-moving tech teams.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Salary: USD $8,000–$12,000 per month

  • Fully remote — work from anywhere

  • Extreme ownership culture: Small team, massive impact

  • Opportunity to define the voice of one of the fastest-growing AI brands

INTERVIEW PROCESS
  1. Intro Call — 30 min with our Founder/CMO

  2. Portfolio & Project Deep Dive — 45 min to understand your writing style and metrics.

  3. Final Interview — Meet the team, discuss impact goals, and see if there’s mutual fit.

  4. Offer

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
