The Sui Foundation exists to support the development, growth and adoption of the Sui network. Sui is the first permissionless Layer 1 blockchain designed from the ground up to enable creators and developers to build unique Web3 experiences from gaming to finance.

The Sui Foundation is committed to three decentralization principles; Embrace transparency and level the playing field, Communicate openly to build a culture of trust, and Engage directly with the community.

Mission:

Onboard the next billion users to web3 by supporting the advancement and global adoption of the Sui blockchain.
Vision:
To create a better world that unlocks opportunities through universal access and individual ownership.

Location: Remote US

Walrus Overview:

The Walrus Foundation supports the development, growth, and adoption of the Walrus protocol. Walrus is Mysten Labs’ second protocol, after Sui, offering a chain-agnostic, highly performant storage & data availability protocol, empowering builders to store all data types at scale seamlessly. Walrus, in partnership with Sui, extends what’s possible, providing the first opportunity for builders to ‘do more with their data’. Through representing data as an object, Walrus extends beyond archival storage to empower builders to program data to be purchased, traded, or versioned, with extended opportunities for builders to create customized experiences around how data is utilized in applications. About the Role

We are looking for an impactful content strategist who will own and story tell around the Walrus narrative of ‘programmable storage’ and why it matters to both a builder and enthusiast audience. Concurrently, this role will lead us to position Walrus, both adjacent to and separate from Sui, as Walrus can play both roles and visualize all the new capabilities that Walrus unlocks for builders compared to traditional, more archival web3 storage solutions [e.g., Filecoin, Arweave].

This role will focus on growing foundational content [e.g., blog, website copy] and exploring new content formats to land a compelling narrative around what Walrus is, what it unlocks, and why it's game-changing [e.g., case studies, infographics]. The individual will develop the content strategy for Walrus’ audience, shape ideas for future narratives, and own the content calendar for coordination and execution.

The person will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, product marketing, growth, developer relations, comms, and other XFNs to develop content for Walrus and its products. The person will play a key role in driving engagement across all of Sui’s owned and operated properties

About You:
  1. Strategic Thinker – Able to translate technical concepts into exciting, tangible content

  2. Industry PoV – Strong blockchain familiarity and PoV on how to differentiate Walrus

  3. Ownership-Mentality – Ability to translate strategic vision into independent execution, with a clear voice around risk, blockers, or required resources

Responsibilities:
  1. Narrative Development

    • Translate Walrus’ mission, technology, and long-term vision into a cohesive content strategy.

    • Develop and refine messaging frameworks that articulate our POV on programmable storage and Walrus’ tie into the broader Mysten Labs vision to reimagine the internet

    • Identify opportunities to connect Walrus with relevant macro narratives (e.g., data ownership)

  2. Content Strategy & Production

    • Lead editorial planning for Walrus content across blog, Twitter/X, Mirror, community updates, and occasional whitepapers.

    • Write and edit original content (or guide contractors/agencies to do so), including:

      • Digestible explainers, Dev-focused deep dives, Ecosystem highlights, Strategic threads and thought leadership

    • Collaborate with design and product teams to create visuals, diagrams, and multimedia storytelling assets.

  3. Distribution & Ecosystem Engagement

    • Work with community and ecosystem teams to amplify narratives through partnerships, guest posts, and speaking opportunities.

    • Coordinate cross-platform campaigns and measure their performance for optimization.

    • Track the broader narrative landscape and identify real-world events that Walrus could have “fixed”, turning them into weekly storytelling opportunities.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in content strategy, product marketing, or editorial roles — ideally in a startup or technical environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead narrative strategy across formats and audiences.

  • A strong track record of being both strategy and execution-oriented, with a focus on excellence and successfully managing through completion

  • Strong writer with experience across various content formats (blog posts, social media, presentations, infographics, web copy, email, customer stories, industry research reports, etc.)

  • Comfort engaging with engineers and protocol-level abstractions (you don’t need to be a dev, but you speak their language).

  • Experience in crypto/Web3 is strongly preferred, and a passion for decentralization is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience producing visual explainers or collaborating closely with designers.

  • Familiarity with programmable infrastructure (storage, compute, LLMs, etc.).

  • A following or presence in crypto Twitter/X, or experience managing a brand account.

Finish boiler plate

Our team is 100% remote and we are hiring across the world. Here at the Sui Foundation, you’ll be joining a world-class team with tremendous growth potential as we bring the next billion users to web3.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
