We are seeking a Consulting Build Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for working directly with customers to understand their build environments, provide expert advice, and help implement NativeLink’s build caching and remote execution solutions to optimize their development and CI/CD pipelines.

Job Description:
As a Consulting Build Engineer at Trace Machina, you will act as the bridge between our technical team and our customers, ensuring seamless implementation of NativeLink in diverse environments. You will work closely with clients to understand their build processes, provide expert recommendations, and help them optimize their systems for better performance, scalability, and reliability. This is a client-facing role that requires strong technical expertise in build systems, deep problem-solving skills, and excellent communication.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical consultant for clients, working directly with them to understand their build infrastructure and processes

  • Assess customer build systems and provide expert recommendations on how to optimize them using NativeLink’s build caching and remote execution solutions

  • Configure and integrate NativeLink into customer environments, including both on-premise and cloud-based setups

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build performance, caching, and execution across various environments

  • Work with clients to define success criteria, track project milestones, and deliver measurable results

  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to provide customer feedback and help improve NativeLink

  • Conduct training and workshops for clients to help them understand and utilize NativeLink to its full potential

  • Provide ongoing support to clients, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimization recommendations

  • Document best practices, case studies, and solutions for future reference and sharing with the broader team

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to build systems, CI/CD, and remote execution

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in build engineering, CI/CD pipelines, or software development

  • Strong understanding of build systems, continuous integration, and build automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, etc.)

  • Experience with build caching, remote execution, and distributed systems

  • Proficiency with programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, or shell scripting

  • Experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues in large-scale environments

  • Strong knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-oriented mindset

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, client-focused environment

  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with build caching/remote execution tools

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization for high-scale build systems
