PCG is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and strategic Consultant to support our special education case management projects in North Carolina. The Consultant works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Special Education Services business line. This position provides motivated individuals an opportunity to contribute to the success of exciting educational initiatives. The Consultant is responsible for managing and growing relationships and leading high-impact technology projects with state and local education agencies. This will be accomplished through direct client interaction, collaboration with internal teams, and engagement with education stakeholders. This role must effectively integrate capabilities in relationship management, strategy leadership, project management, contract and fiscal management, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own delivery and performance of assigned programs/projects.

  • Accountable for client satisfaction and retention.

 

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned strategic clients.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders through proactive communication and strategic support.

  • Cultivate and sustain strong executive-level relationships through proactive communication, strategic guidance, and demonstrating deep understanding of their challenges.

  • Lead client meetings and engagement activities to ensure satisfaction and product adoption.

  • Monitor client usage, feedback, and support needs to proactively address risks and opportunities.

Contract and Financial Management

  • Manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and profitability targets.

  • Monitor expenditures, forecast financial needs, and track budget performance across assigned accounts.

  • Collaborate with finance team to manage and coordinate invoicing, budget updates, and variance resolution.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of financial data for internal and client-facing stakeholders.

  • Oversee contract compliance and support the development and execution of client agreements.

  • Collaborate with finance and legal teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain documentation integrity.

Service Delivery & Operational Support

  • Coordinate with project management, product, data operations, and customer support teams to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery.

  • Ensure service delivery processes are followed and documented consistently across assigned accounts.

  • Support the escalation and resolution of client issues in accordance with regional processes and procedures.

Account Management & Reporting

  • Learn/Understand Federal, state, and local Special Education policies as they pertain to our education clients.

  • Responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of assigned projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

  • Proactively identify problems and provide solutions to clients.

  • Develop and deliver executive-level reports and presentations that provide strategic insights, identify risks, and offer clear recommendations for improvement.

  • Monitor account performance including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, decisions, and next steps.

  • Contribute to renewal planning and risk mitigation strategies by tracking key indicators such as product usage and training needs.

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align client support efforts.

  • Participate in internal planning meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide strategic leadership across project teams in the design and delivery of consulting engagements, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to align goals, resolve issues, and drive strategic decision-making throughout the project life cycle.

  • Contribute to a professional and respectful team dynamic with a culture of mutual accountability.

  • Deliver results in terms of client success metrics, both individually and collaboratively

  • Collaborate and coordinate with team members to meet our clients’ needs. Examples include:

    • Coordinate the creation of status update meeting materials, respond to system, data, or reporting requests, and evolve our services based on training and help desk feedback.

    • Work with team members to understand implications of policy shifts and effectively communicate with clients, track trends, and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.

  • Serve as the client’s key contact regarding project oversight, change request process, taking independent or collaborative action to achieve results.

  • Support onboarding and training of new team members as needed.

Growth Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain a multi-year growth strategy for the portfolio, including product/service expansion, prospecting, investment planning, and innovation opportunities.

  • Execute tailored growth strategies and update growth plans aligned with regional and organizational goals.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for account expansion, including product add-ons and new service offerings.

  • Participate in discovery conversations, qualify leads, and pursue new business opportunities to drive revenue growth

  • Lead or support demonstrations of our software solutions

  • Own the creation and management of core business documents, including pricing letters, proposals, and contracts.

  • Collaborate with business development and client teams to support RFP/RFI submissions and strategic outreach.

  • Track and report on growth metrics, client engagement trends, and strategic opportunities.

  • Deliver compound annual growth rates aligned with practice area and business line expectations.

Education/Experience: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree Required, master’s degree or greater preferred.

    • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the fields of Business, Sales, Education, Technology, Government, or the Consulting field

    • Highly organized and skilled at prioritization 

    • Flexible, self-starter possessing intellectual curiosity

    • Strong understanding and commitment to working in a team-oriented environment

    • Ability to use sound judgment in completing tasks independently and to seek guidance when needed

    • Creative problem-solving ability and willingness to develop a consultancy mindset

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks or clients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

    • Ability to be decisive, consistent, transparent, and open to feedback

    • Effective communication skills (presentation, facilitation, and written) 

    • Able to work with a diverse range of people 

    • Demonstrated expertise in MS Office products, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word

    • Travel Required: up to 30-40%; mostly local

    • Hybrid Work Environment

    • K-12 Education and/or engagement management experience is preferred

    • Experience in account management or business development is preferred

Compensation:

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.  As required by applicable law, PCG provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $66,600 -105,000. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
