Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth

Who We Are:

Eras of humanity can often be defined by a dominant transportation mode - horse drawn chariots, ocean going boats, or aircraft. These were spurred by a small group of people rigorously focused on building technology to achieve faster access to more of the world. We seek to usher in a new era of humanity defined by universal access to the whole globe free of borders and the presence of a routine way from space to Earth. To do this, we are building highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles that can loiter in orbit before precision landing back on Earth.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Composite CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and support CNC programs for machining composite components and tooling. The ideal candidate has strong experience with CAM software, composite materials, and CNC machining processes, ensuring high-quality, precise, and repeatable production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modify CNC programs for composite parts, molds, and fixtures
  • Create efficient toolpaths using CAM software (3-axis to 5-axis as required)
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for composite materials
  • Optimize machining processes to prevent delamination, fiber pull-out, and part damage
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
  • Support CNC operators with setup, troubleshooting, and process improvements
  • Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements
  • Conduct first-article inspections and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain documentation for programs, tooling, and machining processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer, preferably with composite materials
  • Proficiency in CAM software Mastercam
  • Strong understanding of composite machining techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models
  • Experience with CNC routers or milling machines - 5-axis
  • Knowledge of tooling, fixturing, and machining best practices

Desired Qualifications:

  • Aerospace, automotive, or motorsports manufacturing experience
  • Experience with vacuum fixtures and composite-specific tooling
  • Familiarity with quality standards and inspection processes
  • Experience programming high-speed machining toolpaths

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
