Join us as a privacy risk professional and play a pivotal role in strengthening our enterprise privacy and compliance efforts. As a Compliance Officer, you’ll help drive Citizens’ customer-first, innovation-driven growth by identifying, assessing, and managing privacy risks across business lines. This entry-level role offers valuable exposure to financial institution operations, laws and regulations, cybersecurity, and data protection practices.
As a Compliance Officer, you’ll help execute our Privacy Office strategy to ensure compliance with Citizens privacy policies and evolving privacy laws and regulations. You’ll help champion Privacy by Design (PbD) across the organization, leveraging skills you bring and learn on the job to support providing guidance and effective challenge in risk management processes as well as strategic decision-making with risk and business partners. You will be expected to learn on the job and grow into a full-fledged risk and compliance professional. Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to build relationships and collaborate with business lines to identify, mitigate, and escalate privacy risks
  • Learn to conduct privacy vendor assessments with internal stakeholders and third-party teams
  • Learn to implement Privacy by Design practices to proactively address privacy risks
  • Learn to drive cross-functional strategies to ensure compliance with Citizens policies and current/future privacy laws
  • Learn to provide guidance and challenge to business units on privacy-related risks
  • Learn to assess privacy controls for compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Learn to perform independent risk assessments across regulatory frameworks (GLBA, GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, etc.)
  • Learn to complete Privacy Impact Assessments for new initiatives and products
  • Learn to support investigations and remediation of privacy incidents
  • Learn to design and analyze key risk and performance metrics to identify trends and measure program effectiveness and perform reporting/metrics storytelling 
  • Learn to partner with Line of Defense teams to enhance risk culture and control effectiveness
  • Learn to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Privacy Program
  • Learn to use data analytics tools to manage privacy-related data and generate actionable insights

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter who will take initiative, learn quickly, and work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Results oriented and quickly turn around high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to learn quickly on the job and apply training/learnings to everyday responsibilities 
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving and risk assessment abilities
  • Big-picture thinker as well as detailed-oriented
  • Able to work with Microsoft Office suite
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and using data to drive decisions

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Risk management and/or privacy certifications welcomed

 

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40 
  • Work Schedule: Mon-Fri
