We are seeking our first dedicated Compliance and Legal Technologist to meet the growing needs of our in‑house compliance/legal team. This role will be foundational in modernizing how we manage documents, regulatory responses, and contract workflows. The ideal candidate will lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a fit‑for‑purpose document management solution to better support our increasingly demanding workloads. You’ll collaborate closely with firmwide IT, helpdesk, data, and engineering teams to design a structured, sustainable ecosystem that elevates how our team works.
Hours: 8 AM to 5 PM CST

What You’ll Do
  • Own the vendor selection process for a new document management platform (with iManage among the tools under consideration).
  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and adoption of the chosen solution, ensuring it becomes a core, effective platform.
  • Evaluate and redesign our current document storage practices for improved structure, consistency, and auditability.
  • Implement and help to maintain document-level taxonomy and indexing strategies
  • Develop clear, practical guidelines for how to use the new system alongside SharePoint for complementary use cases.
  • Partner with existing IT support, sysadmins, network engineers, developers, and data scientists to streamline how our legal/compliance team collaborates with other areas of the overall firm.
  • Provide training, documentation, and ongoing support to ensure adoption and adherence to new systems and processes.
  • Bridge between our business, technical, and legal/compliance team to translate needs into structured system enhancements.
  • Identify longer-term opportunities to enhance our contract lifecycle management (CLM) approach and other emerging needs.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing document management platforms for regulated environments.
  • Platform expertise in Sharepoint, iManage, and/or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of how to structure and optimize document workflows for compliance, legal, and regulatory use cases.
  • Comfort working alongside other technical experts in a cross-functional environment.
  • A process-oriented mindset with the ability to navigate document sprawl from legacy approaches.
  • Initiative, curiosity, and strong communication skills.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
