The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Disruptive Computing & Networking (DC&N) software capability is seeking multiple Compiler Software Engineers (Associate / Mid-Level) in El Segundo, CA, Annapolis Junction, MD, Fairfax, VA, or Huntington Beach, CA.

The position will involve creating software for world class, next generation disruptive systems and technologies. The selected candidate will work with the Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of a future system. As part of Boeing's software capability, our engineers use their expertise to dream up next-generation software capabilities for amazing aerospace, satellite, and autonomous platforms. You will collaborate with other world-class scientists, researchers, and engineers innovating on a range of technologies including Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML), Advanced Training & Simulation, Production Analytics, Autonomy, Electro-Optical/Infrared Sensing, Cybersecurity, Disruptive Computing & Networks, and High-Fidelity Digital Twin & Virtualization, and much more.

Our software products help solve Boeing's most challenging problems across Commercial Airplanes, Defense Space & Security, and Global Services businesses. Projects can range from new cyber security solutions for the revolutionary 787 Dreamliner to innovative aircraft, creating virtual avionics development test environments across several commercial, defense, satellite, and space platforms, satellite payload technologies, and autonomy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new compiler features and optimizations.

  • Evaluate and leverage selected industry leading compiler solutions

  • Analyze and improve the performance of existing compilers and tools.

  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate compilers into various software applications.

  • ​Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues and user feedback analysis

  • Develop and maintain documentation for compiler architecture and functionality.

  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve compiler-related issues and bugs.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in compiler technology and programming languages.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

•    1+ years of experience with C/C++ coding or java/python script development
•    Experience with build tools (examples: Gnu Compilers, Cygwin, Intel, ARM, etc.)
•    Experience with application performance analysis and monitoring
•    Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as (or similar to) Git, Jira, Collaborator, Beyond Compare, and VersionOne
•    Experience with Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

•    3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with Poly
•    Familiarity with compiler frameworks (e.g., LLVM, GCC) and programming language theory.
•    Experience with parallel and distributed computing.
•    Experience with the programming language conversion techniques
•    5+ years experience in compiler design and implementation.
•    Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc).

Typical Education/Experience: 
Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Masters). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel:
Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range / Senior: $92,650 - $125,350
Summary Pay Range / Lead:  $114,750 - $155,250
