About Revel
At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world's most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.

Role Overview
We're seeking an exceptional Compiler Engineer to join our core platform team. You'll be instrumental in designing and developing Revel’s specialized compiler infrastructure, transforming how engineers write and deploy control software for complex physical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize compilers for Revel's proprietary hardware control language.
  • Implement advanced compiler techniques including parsing, semantic analysis, intermediate representation (IR), optimization passes, and code generation.
  • Collaborate closely with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to refine and evolve our compiler architecture.
  • Improve compiler robustness, efficiency, determinism, and maintainability through rigorous testing and benchmarking.
  • Engage in research and development activities, contributing innovative solutions to complex compiler-related challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Deep expertise in compiler design and implementation using LLVM or custom compiler toolchains.
  • Proficiency in C++
  • Strong grasp of compiler internals, optimization techniques, and code generation strategies.
  • Proven experience with performance optimization and deterministic system constraints.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a rigorous engineering mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing compilers for domain-specific languages (DSLs).
  • Familiarity with real-time, embedded, or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience integrating compilers within broader software and hardware development ecosystems.

ITAR Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
