Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

About this team and role:

We are looking for a strategic, authentic, and experienced Community Engagement Manager to lead our efforts across Reddit.

You’ll be Mozilla’s voice in influential subreddits, driving organic engagement through thoughtful participation, not brand pushing. You’ll develop and own an organic Reddit strategy, spot trends early and make engagement recommendations, navigate moderation ecosystems with care, track and report performance, build relationships with key Redditors and moderators, and create content that resonates with communities passionate about technology, privacy, and the open web.

This is a great opportunity to shape and lead Mozilla’s Reddit engagement strategy, working cross-functionally to spark meaningful conversations and build stronger connections with our users.

You’re the right person if:

You have your finger on the pulse of online conversations, especially in tech spaces, and you know when to listen, when to jump in, and how to do it with empathy and authenticity. You're fluent in Reddit culture, comfortable navigating nuance, and write in a way that feels human. You’ve worked across teams to problem-solve responses and share insights, and you bring sound judgment to fast moving or sensitive moments. You’re naturally curious, quick to learn new platforms, and genuinely enjoy engaging with communities where trust and transparency matter. You’re motivated by the opportunity to help grow and nurture a thoughtful, engaged community by serving as a critical liaison between our users and the product teams building for them.

What you’ll bring:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in product communications, developer relations, community strategy, or tech influencer marketing.
  • Proven ability to participate authentically and effectively on Reddit and other tech-native platforms (e.g., Hacker News, Discord, X).
  • Deep understanding of how influence flows through tech communities, and how to meet those communities with the right tone and timing.
  • Skilled at translating product and technical language into community-friendly narratives that resonate across forums and social spaces.
  • Direct experience engaging with developers, open-source contributors, or privacy-minded user communities.
  • Strong writer who can craft engaging Reddit posts and comments in Mozilla’s voice, while adapting to the unique tone and norms of each subreddit community
  • Proficiency with Reddit analytics, UTM tagging, and other performance-tracking tools to assess engagement and impact.
  •  Map Reddit activity back to KPIs like traffic, leads, or brand awareness.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously while also collaborating across functions—especially with PR, Product, Legal, Marketing, and Brand teams.
  • Familiar with moderation systems, content guidelines, and reputation management in online forums and communities.

What you’ll get:

  • Generous performance-based bonus plans to all eligible employees - we share in our success as one team
  • Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
  • Quarterly all-company wellness days where everyone takes a pause together
  • Country specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday
  • One-time home office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Quarterly well-being stipend
  • Considerable paid parental leave
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Other benefits (life/AD&D, disability, EAP, etc. - varies by country)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
