Who is Rainforest?

Rainforest is an early stage payments-as-a-service startup that has developed a solution that makes monetizing payments for vertically focused software platforms fair and simple.

We focus on small-to-mid sized platforms that want to add value to their small business customers through embedded payments — and want to do so without adding operational or regulatory burdens or costs.

Led by a successful repeat fintech founder with deep knowledge of the industry, and with venture backing from a Top 10 VC firm, Rainforest is well positioned to make an impact in the payments-as-a-service space, and we're looking for new team members who want to be a part of this journey!

Who are we looking for?

One of our Core Values at Rainforest is “improve the ecosystem”. We’re looking for a Community & Content Marketer who is obsessed with growing the vertical software community.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for getting as many people into the Rainforest and Vertex orbit as possible, while also driving meaningful, ongoing community engagement. In practice, that means you're responsible for every piece of content that promotes Vertex, shapes its programming, and extends its reach on social. This means you're responsible for growing the community year-round, not just around our bi-annual conferences.

When Vertex isn't consuming your calendar, you'll contribute to Rainforest's broader content & community building efforts.

More about Vertex: The Vertical Software Conference: Vertex is our flagship community initiative and the premier event for the vertical software ecosystem. Twice a year, we bring together ~350 vSaaS founders, execs, and investors for a one-day, invite-only conference that's free to attend and intentionally free of vendor pitches. Now we want to turn Vertex into the go-to community for vertical software operators that operates year round and is a consistent driver of awareness and demand for Rainforest offering.

What are some of the high-impact opportunities you’ll tackle?Vertex Content & Programming
  • Own all promotional content for Vertex: emails, social posts, landing page copy, speaker announcements, recap content, and anything else the event needs to look like it belongs at the top of the market.

  • Source and develop panel topics. Research what's top of mind in the vSaaS world, interview sponsors and community members, and translate that into session ideas that people actually show up for.

  • Manage Vertex's social presence leading up to, during, and after each event. Build anticipation, highlight speakers, capture the energy live, and extend the shelf life of the content afterward.

  • Work closely with the Senior Events Manager to make sure content and logistics are in sync.

Community Building
  • Continue to grow Vertex attendance. Find and recruit the right people into the funnel, manage the RSVP process, and maintain relationships with community members between events. We want to see how big Vertex can become without sacrificing the quality of attendees.

  • Own the Vertex Slack community: drive engagement, surface interesting conversations, and make it a place people actually check.

  • Identify and execute on new community touchpoints beyond the biannual conference. This includes local meetups, roundtables, online discussions, content series such as newsletters. Anything that the community consistently comes back for.

  • Track community health metrics and come to the table with opinions on what's working and what isn't.

Rainforest Content (Overflow Capacity)
  • Collaborate with ourContent Marketing Manager to fill gaps, stay aligned on the editorial calendar, and make sure our Rainforest and Vertex content complement one another.

This opportunity is for you if you have / are:
  • 2+ years in content marketing or community management, ideally a mix of the two.

  • Strong writing and communication skills. We’re not looking for a corporate communications style, but a clear, confident, occasionally funny style that matches the brand we’ve established.

  • An understanding of B2B SaaS audiences. You know what a founder cares about and you can write for them without dumbing it down or overselling it.

  • Love for vertical software. This is who we’re building Rainforest and Vertex for. A curiosity and passion for this space goes a long way.

  • A comfort level for being scrappy. We're a small team and Vertex is still (relatively) new. We need someone who will leave no stone unturned to grow the community.

  • Opinions about what makes community work and you're not afraid to advocate for them.

  • Bonus: Experience working on events, knowledge around Slack community management tools, or experience in fintech or payments.

We offer a comprehensive health benefits package, unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, a fun and flexible working environment, and continuously invest in our people and our culture.

If you require any accommodations throughout the pre-employment process, please contact our HR team at [email protected]

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
