We’re seeking a talented Dental Communications & Marketing Writer to support an established, community-focused private dental practice. In this role, you’ll help the practice craft clear, engaging, and strategic communications for both their internal team and patient audience — spanning email campaigns, service announcements, promotions, and community outreach. We are looking for someone with thorough experience in the dental industry.

Scope and Duration
10 hours/week (45 hours per month)
Initial 6 month contract

What You’ll Do

Develop Internal Communications
Write clear, concise announcements for staff (new hires, service updates, internal initiatives).

Craft Patient-Facing Email Campaigns & Newsletters

  • Announce new services (ex: periodontist joining the practice).
  • Create targeted promotional emails (ex: senior discounts, seasonal promotions).
Help plan and implement a communication calendar (ex: “Pro Health Awareness Month”).

Support Community Outreach & Brand Voice

  • Develop messaging aligned with the practice’s vision of holistic health.
  • Collaborate with leadership on ideas to expand reach to younger patient demographics.

Optional Add-Ons (if experienced):

  • Advise on tone/approach for social media responses.
  • Write SEO-friendly patient education content (local SEO blogs, guides).
  • Suggest content strategy improvements based on best practices in healthcare marketing.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of marketing/communications writing experience with a strong understanding and experience in the dental industry.
  • Having worked for a dental organization DSO would be awesome!
  • Proven ability to write clearly for non-expert audiences.
  • Experience with email marketing best practices (basic list segmentation, CRM familiarity).
  • A collaborative mindset — able to work closely with small business owners and help shape priorities.
  • Comfortable offering strategic input on communication cadence, tone, and opportunities.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with dental/medical marketing, SEO fundamentals, social media content, or CRM tools.
About the Client

This is a small but growing dental practice with a forward-thinking leadership team — one partner brings extensive corporate business development experience (ex-IBM executive). The practice is expanding services (adding a periodontist) and is ready to strengthen patient engagement and brand positioning.

They have a CRM platform with patient lists but currently lack the internal bandwidth to develop polished messaging — that’s where you come in.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
