About the Company

Rain makes the next generation of payments possible across the globe. We’re a lean and mighty team of passionate builders and veteran founders. Our infrastructure makes stablecoins usable in the real-world by powering card transactions, cross-border payments, B2B purchases, remittances, and more. We partner with fintechs, neobanks, and institutions to help them launch solutions that are global, inclusive, and efficient. You will have the opportunity to deliver massive impact at a hypergrowth company that is funded by some of the top investors in fintech, crypto, and SaaS, including Sapphire Ventures, Norwest, Galaxy Ventures, Lightspeed, Khosla, and several more. If you’re curious, bold, and excited to help shape a borderless financial future, we’d love to talk.

Our Ethos

We believe in an open and flat structure. You will be able to grow into the role that most aligns with your goals. Our team members at all levels have the freedom to explore ideas and impact the roadmap and vision of our company.

About the team

The Marketing & Communications team at Rain owns the full customer lifecycle—from first touch to long-term expansion—by shaping how the market understands who we are and why we matter. We’re building the brand in a rapidly emerging category at the intersection of global payments, tokenized money, and financial infrastructure. That means crafting a credible, differentiated narrative for enterprise brands and scaled crypto companies alike, while tailoring our approach across the U.S. and the many regions where Rain operates. It’s a rare opportunity to define a category, tell a complex story with clarity, and directly support revenue growth in a fast-moving global business.

What you’ll do

  • Own Rain’s earned media strategy end-to-end, driving sustained visibility and credibility across enterprise, fintech, TradFi, and crypto audiences

  • Lead communications for major company moments, including product launches, partnerships, funding announcements, and corporate milestones

  • Elevate Rain’s leadership team through proactive executive communications, thought leadership, and top-tier media placements

  • Build and evolve core messaging frameworks that scale across press, speaking, content, and regional marketing efforts

  • Partner closely with Sales, Business Development, Product, and Executive Leadership to provide air cover for pipeline growth and strategic initiatives

  • Manage and hold a high-performing external PR agency accountable to outcomes, not activity

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with select top reporters across business, fintech, payments, and crypto media

  • Identify and execute timely newsjacking opportunities that reinforce Rain’s point of view on the market

  • Oversee earned speaking opportunities, from industry conferences to executive panels and media events

  • Partner with regional marketing and BD teams to localize narratives and announcements for markets such as LATAM and beyond

  • Lead crisis communications planning and execution, ensuring Rain is prepared to respond clearly and confidently when it matters most

You are likely to succeed if you have:

  • 8–12+ years of experience in communications, PR, or strategic storytelling at a high-growth technology company, or agency that explicitly focused on this category segment

  • Direct experience navigating both the hype phase and the operational maturity phase of a fast-scaling company

  • A strong track record of managing and scaling agency relationships while remaining hands-on as an individual contributor

  • Experience working cross-functionally with executives, product, legal, sales, and regional teams across multiple countries

  • Exceptional writing and editorial judgment, with the ability to simplify complex topics without losing credibility

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment with shifting priorities

  • A strong ownership mentality—you see gaps, fill them, and drive work forward without waiting for perfect inputs

  • Willingness and ability to be a senior IC as the function grows

Bonus attributes:

  • Experience leading or supporting communications around mergers, acquisitions, or major corporate restructurings

  • Exposure to public-company communications, including earnings cycles, regulatory considerations, or investor relations coordination

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
