Job Responsibilities:
Commodity Manager wanted in Novi, Michigan to assign to complex commodities or multiple commodities, responsibilities include supporting the implementation of plans to achieve material profit goals, ensuring compliance with purchasing policies, and overseeing negotiation strategies. Duties involve ensuring part source selection meets criteria, managing buyers to meet goals, and establishing relationships with plant materials employees. Collaboration with quality and engineering ensures supplier compliance with quality requirements. A comprehensive supplier evaluation process is established, and actions are initiated to prevent nonconformities. Problems related to products, processes, and quality systems are identified and addressed. Responsibilities include purchasing materials, developing knowledge of commodities and supplier cost structures, and achieving cost reduction objectives. Strategies are developed for cost reduction, and supply base cost reduction activities are managed. Participation in supplier capacity studies and performance measurements is required, along with maintaining supplier information. Global market trends are studied, new supply sources are located, and technical knowledge is maintained. Raw material indices are monitored, negotiation strategies are developed, and supplier relationships are managed. Sourcing aligns with commodity strategies, and participation with the Global Magna Purchasing team is required. Collaboration with engineering, purchasing, and costing activities is essential, along with effective communication and maintaining documentation. Trim commodity strategies are presented, and technical assistance is provided to buyers. The approved supplier list is maintained, and support is provided for audit efforts and quality management systems. Workplace health and safety goals are established, and safety talks, meetings, and training are completed. Requires a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering and 24 months of related experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Supervisor, Commodity Manager or Purchasing Assistant. The related experience must include conducting cost analysis and price negotiation for automotive seating components; overseeing all commodities assigned to Buyers/SR Buyers that report into the Commodity manager role; supporting implementation of plan to achieve present and long-range material profit goals; ensuring purchased part source selection recommendations meet appropriate criteria; ensuring Buyers demonstrate required competencies; and, managing Buyers to meet goals and objectives established by company. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; M-F, $106,704.00 per year.
