WHO WE ARE

Velotic is a newly-formed independent software company with a pure-play focus on industrial operations. We unite two category-defining portfolios -- ThingWorx and Kepware (formerly part of PTC) and Proficy (formerly part of GE Vernova) -- to transform industrial manufacturing, at scale. With $350M in annual revenue, a global footprint across a range of industries, a legacy customer base, and our intelligent data connectivity systems and AI solutions, we are one of the world's largest independent software companies focused on industrial operations -- here to power the future of manufacturing.

OUR MISSION

Enabling the world's industrial producers to do the right things right—across every shift, every plant, every day. We help manufacturers prosper by equipping them with software-defined, data-driven production systems that elevate quality, accelerate cycle times, improve resilience, and enable sustainable profit growth.

These values shape how we hire, lead, and hold each other accountable, every day.

Job Description

About the Role

Velotic is seeking a Commercial Proposal Manager to define and lead the strategy for high-quality, compliant, and competitive proposals for our global software and services business. You will manage RFIs, RFPs, commercial proposals, SOWs, and related contract activities, orchestrating stakeholders to move complex opportunities from initial request through proposal submission and contract completion.

Working closely with leadership, Sales, Business Consultants, Services, Product Management, Finance, Legal, and business leadership, you will transform complex technical and commercial inputs into winning compelling proposals that address customer requirements and differentiate Velotic in the market. This role combines strategic proposal development, high level commercial judgment, and enterprise-wide cross-functional leadership, with a strong focus on improving win rates and setting organizational best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic end-to-end proposal development and commercial deal execution for high value and complex opportunities
  • Partner with sales and cross-functional stakeholders to define win themes, shape customer requirements, and develop differentiated, high margin offerings
  • Facilitate leadership bid/no-bid meetings to validate solution fit, assess enterprise risk, and confirm alignment with long term business priorities
  • Develop proposal bid plans that integrate cross-functional resource allocation. Drive execution and proactively resolve systemic issues
  • Coordinate technical, commercial, and services contributions, ensuring responses are technically sound, accurate, consistent, complete, and aligned with the proposed solution
  • Advise on customer-facing proposal documents, presenting Velotic’s capabilities, value proposition, scope, pricing, assumptions, and terms with an emphasis on risk adjusted profitability
  • Assess commercial and contractual risks in partnership with Legal, Finance, and leadership, lead the development of mitigation strategies and champion exception approvals
  • Provide expert guidance during pricing reviews and secure required business approvals in accordance with DOA and internal policies
  • Manage complex proposal related contract activities, leading negotiations and documenting agreed terms
  • Define standards for proposal records to support traceability, compliance, and audit readiness
  • Ensure a seamless, high-quality handover of awarded opportunities
  • Drive the evolution of proposal processes, templates, and reusable content to scale team efficiency and quality

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in proposal management, commercial operations, sales operations, bid management, or a related role. Experience supporting manufacturing customers or software and services solutions would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high visibility complex proposals and multiple concurrent opportunities with competing deadlines
  • Experience influencing at an executive level and managing stakeholders without direct reporting authority
  • Expert commercial judgment, with the ability to identify risks, evaluate options, and coordinate practical solutions
  • Deep working knowledge of pricing, commercial terms, contract review, and internal approval processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical and commercial information into clear customer-facing content
  • Advanced project management, organizational, and analytical skills, with close attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM, quoting, or proposal management systems
  • Experience with industrial software, IIoT, MES/MOM, enterprise SaaS, or hybrid software licensing models is an asset
  • Experience with Salesforce, CPQ, or Qvidian is an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional certification in proposal management, such as APMP is an asset.
  • Fluency in English. French and Spanish language skills are assets

What Success Looks Like

  • Proposals are delivered on time, meet customer requirements, and clearly communicate Velotic’s value and differentiation
  • Technical and commercial inputs are accurate, consistent, and supported by the appropriate stakeholder reviews
  • Cross-functional contributors understand their responsibilities, meet deadlines, and resolve issues promptly
  • Commercial and contractual risks are identified early, addressed appropriately, and supported by documented approvals

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
