We are seeking a highly motivated and business-minded Commercial Counsel to join our legal team and play a critical role in advancing Blockdaemon’s mission by navigating the evolving legal landscape of blockchain infrastructure. In this role, you will advise on complex commercial transactions, partner closely with business teams, and help scale legal operations for a fast-growing global technology company operating at the forefront of blockchain innovation.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how we structure partnerships, deliver products, and engage with customers across the digital asset ecosystem. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney who thrives in dynamic, emerging industries and enjoys balancing legal precision with commercial practicality.

This position is remote and open to candidates located anywhere in the United States, with a preference for those on the East Coast.
Your Impact

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of complex commercial agreements, including SaaS, licensing, vendor, and partnership contracts.

  • Advise sales, business development, and product teams on contract structures, risk allocation, and compliance matters.

  • Provide legal guidance on go-to-market initiatives and product launches in regulated technology environments.

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of contract templates, playbooks, and scalable legal processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including finance, compliance, and operations — to streamline deal execution and mitigate risk.

  • Stay current on evolving regulations impacting digital assets, financial services, and technology transactions.

Role Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.

  • 4–7 years of experience in commercial or technology transactions, ideally combining both law firm and in-house experience.

  • Solid understanding of blockchain technology, digital assets, and evolving Web3 regulatory frameworks.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently negotiate, draft, and close complex commercial agreements.

  • Strong business judgment with a pragmatic approach to balancing legal risk and operational efficiency in a fast-scaling organization.

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with global teams across multiple time zones.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience in fintech, SaaS, or emerging technology industries.

  • Background in data privacy, intellectual property, or financial services law.

  • Experience supporting international commercial operations.

  • Prior work implementing or managing contract lifecycle tools.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 USD annually. The final offer will be determined based on factors including your experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.

In addition to base salary, this role includes equity compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. We offer competitive health cover, 401k, flexible paid time off, and other perks designed to support your wellbeing and professional growth.

This position is remote and open to candidates located anywhere in the United States, with a preference for those on the East Coast.

Blockdaemon is committed to pay transparency and equal pay practices. We determine compensation based on role requirements, candidate qualifications, and market data—never on protected characteristics.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
