Full-cycle, quota-carrying AE owning territory end-to-end: self-source pipeline, run discovery, build ROI business cases, partner on demos, and close $30K-$100K+ deals to hit ~ $1M quota. Maintain Salesforce, move fast on ~45-day cycles, and travel ~40%.

Stratus, is the leading cloud-based platform for MEP contractors.  We’re on a mission to revolutionize the construction industry by providing innovative data driven solutions that seamlessly layer across a contractor’s entire workflow from design, to fabrication, to installation.

The Role

This is a full-cycle, quota-carrying closing role for someone who loves to hunt. You’ll own your territory end to end — building pipeline, running discovery, making the business case, and closing $30K–$100K+ deals with MEP contractors across the country. You won’t wait on inbound leads or hand off to a sales team; you are the sales team, backed by a bench of five Solutions Engineers and a customer success org that sells alongside you.

We’re still writing a lot of our playbooks. If that excites you, you’ll thrive here. If you need a fully built-out process on day one, this probably isn’t your seat.

What You’ll Do

Own full-cycle sales in your territory — prospecting through close — and consistently exceed a ~$1M annual quota

Self-source pipeline through disciplined, multi-channel outbound: cold calls, personalized email, networking, and referrals (no SDRs here — you build it)

Run sharp discovery with operational buyers (CFOs, COOs, presidents) and technical champions (VDC/BIM leaders, VPs of operations), and translate their pain into a clear ROI and business case

Partner with Solutions Engineers to deliver demos and narratives that land with each trade’s specific priorities

Move fast — commercial cycles run ~45 days — and keep Salesforce clean, current, and forecast-ready

Sharpen competitive intelligence and articulate why Stratus wins where point solutions can’t

What You’ll Bring

2–3+ years as a quota-carrying, full-cycle AE with a documented track record of hitting or beating number (this isn’t a first-AE-seat role)

Experience selling operational, multi-stakeholder B2B software — think project management, manufacturing, or similar — where you built ROI cases and ran a real value-selling motion (not high-velocity, single-tool transactional sales)

A genuine hunter’s mentality and comfort self-sourcing pipeline

Success in an early-growth environment (think Series B/C) — scrappy, coachable, and comfortable with ambiguity and change

A data-driven approach and enthusiasm for using AI to work smarter (it’s core to how we operate and what we sell)

Strong discovery, presentation, and business-case skills; familiarity with a methodology like MEDDIC/MEDDPICC is a plus

Proficiency in Salesforce (or similar CRM) and a knack for picking up new tools quickly

Open to ~40% travel

Bonus Points

Experience selling into construction, contractors, or the built environment

Prior quota-carrying success at a Series B/C SaaS company

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
