Overview

We are looking for a seasoned cloud engineer with exceptional experience in designing and optimizing unstructured data within a MS Azure environment.  This data role will work to support Sand Cherry clients with MS Azure and data governance and process needs, both in administrative and development functions. This position is in the Northeast USA region and will require 80% travel in the Northeast as a hybrid role. All qualified applicants must live in the United States and be authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship. We will prioritize candidates living in the Northeast with the required experience.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for the design, structure, and maintenance of data
• Determines end user requirements for data usage including analytics and visualization
• Ensures the accuracy and accessibility of data relevant to client’s organization
• Supports MS Azure database needs and relational databases
• Identifies and creates connections to relevant data sources from within the organization as well as third party sources including government data sources
• Assists in defining how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities 
• Assesses existing data architecture and data management processes to determine gaps and means of optimization and process
• Creates vision and documents resource requirements for organizational structure to support all phases of client data initiatives
• Defines supplemental data collection methods including manual survey processes
• Defines user access models for internal and public models and techniques to allow user inquiry and presentation of quantitative and visual findings from data analytics
• Creates effective quality and data integrity standards and processes

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related
• 5-7 years of experience in data management and database architecture
• Ability to travel 80% (4 days per week)
• Proficiency in using MS Azure is required
• Experience with SQL, XML, Azure Dev Ops
• Proficiency with data governance processes
• Proficiency in ETL and ELT tools and techniques
• Excellent scripting and programming skills, such as Python and R
• Proven ability to work with team members cross functionally
• Proven ability to document and adhere to business requirements
• Proven ability to communicate with clients at any level
• Proven business acumen
• Data-oriented, well-organized personality
• Ability to work independently
