About Aigent Energy
AiGent is developing the leading software platform to optimize distributed generation resources and turn liabilities into reliable assets. AiGent brings AI to the aggregation, orchestration, and monetization of distributed generation resources in wholesale and retail power markets and delivers significant reliability, economic, and sustainability benefits to commercial, institutional, and industrial energy users, utilities, and grid operators.
About the role
AiGent is seeking an exceptional Cloud Backend & Infrastructure Engineer to architect and operate the mission-critical AWS infrastructure that powers our distributed energy platform. You'll be responsible for designing systems that reliably ingest real-time telemetry from thousands of generators, orchestrate precise control events, and maintain seamless integration with our customer-facing applications.
In this role, you'll own the entire cloud backend stack—from IoT device provisioning and serverless data processing to database optimization and infrastructure automation. You'll design efficient TimescaleDB schemas that handle high-volume time-series data, implement robust .NET-based Lambda functions for real-time processing, and ensure our infrastructure meets the demanding security, scalability, and reliability requirements of critical energy infrastructure.
As a core technical leader, you'll collaborate closely with our Application Engineering and Embedded teams to deliver end-to-end solutions that enable utilities and energy customers to transform distributed generation from intermittent resources into reliable, valuable grid assets. Your work will directly impact grid stability and the acceleration of clean energy adoption.
This role offers the opportunity to build cloud infrastructure at scale while contributing to the fundamental transformation of how energy is generated, stored, and distributed across the modern power grid.
Responsibilities
- Develop AWS IoT Core provisioning workflows and device communication channels.
- Implement AWS Lambdas in .NET for telemetry ingestion, command handling, and alerting.
- Design and optimize TimescaleDB schemas for generator telemetry and event storage.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and automate infrastructure (Terraform/CloudFormation).
- Maintain logging, monitoring, and security policies across the cloud platform.
- Collaborate with Embedded and Application engineers on end-to-end integration.
Qualifications
- 5+ years backend/cloud engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of AWS IoT Core, Lambdas, and EC2.
- Proficiency with .NET (C#) for backend services and Lambdas.
- SQL optimization and schema design experience (Postgres/TimescaleDB preferred).
- Familiarity with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience securing IoT/cloud integrations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Software Engineering or related field
- Expertise with generator technologies
- Experience with standby/backup power systems, emergency generators and distributed generation assets
- Experience with renewable energy assets, storage systems or distributed energy resources
Benefits
- Competitive compensation: Base, bonus and early-stage company equity
- Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k)
