Nema provides virtual, evidence-based treatment that helps people feel better faster - and stay better longer. We are committed to delivering care that's accessible, trauma-specialized, and deeply patient-centered.

At Nema, we offer employees the opportunity to be a part of a mission driven company while shaping its future during a pivotal stage of growth. If you're someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, values systems thinking, and cares deeply about expanding access to mental healthcare, you could be a great fit.

Role overview

We are looking for a Clinical Partnerships Lead to drive our business-to-business referral growth. At its core, this is a deeply relationship-driven role. You will be the primary clinical face of our organization to the medical and therapeutic community, responsible for turning clinical credibility into trusted referral pipelines.

In this role, you will act as a strategic "player-coach," shaping our overarching outreach playbook while executing high-level partnerships. You will also serve as the elite clinical closer, partnering with our regional partnership managers to unlock high-value accounts.

This position is fully remote day-to-day, but requires strategic travel to support field initiatives and major partnership opportunities. This role reports directly to the Head of Growth.

Key responsibilities

Strategic partnerships and outreach execution

  • Shape the referral playbook: Design, execute, and continuously iterate on a comprehensive B2B outreach strategy targeting healthcare entities, hospital systems, group practices, individual providers, among others.

  • Secure high-value agreements: Identify, court, and secure formal partnership agreements (sometimes referred to as memorandums of understanding, or similar) with major healthcare entities, institutional systems, and large group practices.

  • Optimize referral workflows: Work deeply with clinical partners to map out and understand their internal processes, ensuring our intake and care model integrates seamlessly into their existing referral workflows.

  • Inbound relationship building: Proactively establish and nurture relationships with outside providers who are referenced in our inbound patient referrals, converting one-off interactions into long-term partnership streams.

  • Capitalize on Close-the-Loop continuity: Partner closely with our internal Close-the-Loop team to actively grow and deepen relationships with providers who have already trusted us with their patients, leveraging positive clinical outcomes to secure repeat referrals.

Clinical expertise and subject matter representation

  • Face of the clinical model: Act as our primary clinical ambassador to the medical and therapeutic community. Lead high-level clinical presentations, case consultations, and educational sessions to build ironclad trust with referring providers.

  • Enterprise clinical point of contact: Serve as the dedicated clinical point of contact whenever large-scale opportunities arise, whether via proactive outreach or inbound channels.

Pipeline operations and team collaboration

  • Lead pipeline reviews: Continuously monitor the partnership referral sales funnel and lead routine pipeline reviews with the outreach team to track health, remove bottlenecks, and ensure we are making consistent progress toward our growth goals.

  • Partnership manager cross-collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with our regional partnership managers to optimize regional outreach strategies, share market insights, and maintain a unified brand message.

  • Growth Operations and Marketing alignment: Partner closely with our Senior Growth Operations Manager and Marketing team to co-design and build automated CRM flows that streamline partner communication, scale nurturing campaigns, and eliminate administrative friction.

  • Field support and travel: Provide high-impact clinical backing in the field. While the role is remote, you will travel when needed to co-lead high-stakes meetings or clinical "lunch and learns" secured by the partnership managers.

  • Data-driven pipeline management: Own and manage the sales/relationship pipeline using CRM data. Track referral patterns, measure conversion rates, and leverage these insights to continuously refine our outreach tactics.

Success will be measured by

Playbook scalability and team impact

  • Building a predictable referral engine: Transforming our high level B2B outreach strategy into a documented, repeatable playbook that accelerates referral growth across all territories.

  • Elevating team performance: Empowering regional partnership managers through strategic pipeline reviews, shared best practices, and impactful clinical support in the field to help them hit their regional targets.

High-value institutional growth

  • Securing institutional agreements: Successfully sourcing, courting, and closing formal partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding with major healthcare systems, large group practices, and hospitals.

  • Establishing clinical authority: Positioning Nema as the undisputed, top of mind clinical resource for local providers dealing with complex trauma and PTSD through high level presentations and case consultations.

Funnel velocity and optimization

  • Shortening the B2B sales cycle: Partnering with marketing and growth operations to build automated CRM flows that reduce friction, tracking a measurable decrease in time from a partner's first contact to their first patient referral.

  • Maximizing existing relationships: Measurably increasing repeat referrals by unlocking the full potential of our Close-the-Loop network, turning past referrers into active, long term clinical partners.

  • Strategic market intelligence: Acting as the primary bridge between the field and our internal leadership, translating real time market feedback into actionable improvements for our provider experience and intake workflows.

Qualifications

Required

  • Masters or doctoral degree in a behavioral health field (e.g., Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy) or equivalent clinical discipline.

  • Strong understanding of evidence-based treatment for PTSD and complex trauma.

  • Formal training and certification in trauma-focused modalities such as CPT, DBT, PE, and EMDR.

Preferred

  • 5+ years experience in behavioral healthcare, including direct clinical experience or external provider or healthcare partnership development.

  • 2+ years of experience supporting strategic partnerships, referral networks, or business development initiatives within healthcare, behavioral health, or digital health.

  • Experience in a high-growth telehealth, digital health, or behavioral health startup or scaling organization.

  • Demonstrated success developing relationships with hospitals, health systems, physician groups, providers, or other healthcare organizations.

  • Experience leading clinical presentations, provider education sessions, or case consultations for external audiences.

What we offer
  • The starting base salary for this role is $120,000 annually. The final compensation offered may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition, you will be eligible for a 20% annual performance bonus.

  • This role also includes eligibility for Nema Health’s full-time employee benefits package, which includes generous paid time off, a healthcare ICHRA benefit, a 401(k) plan with company matching, an annual education stipend, an annual work-from-home stipend, and paid parental leave.

  • Additionally, you are eligible for these field-based benefits:

    • Company credit card for field expenses (breakfasts, lunches, provider engagement, printing, etc.)

    • Company sponsored cell phone & plan (if desired)

Please Note: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The company is not able to sponsor employment visas at this time.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
