As a Claims Manager, Liability to lead a team of Team Leaders and oversee intermediate complexity coverage and liability investigations. This role combines leadership, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making to ensure accurate, timely claim handling and compliance with company and state standards.

What does a CLAIMS MANAGER, LIABILITY do at GAINSCO?
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of 4–6 Team Leaders and their direct reports.
  • Drive employee engagement and foster a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training for new team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to develop leadership and technical skills.
  • Monitor claim handling for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state regulations.
  • Review and audit claims using a holistic approach.
  • Resolve escalated coverage and liability issues that cannot be handled by Team Leaders.
  • Provide reporting and insights to senior management.
  • Lead or assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance claims operations and customer experience.
What is required?

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Licenses/ Certifications:

  • To perform the essential functions of this job an active Texas or Florida Adjuster License will be required to comply with state and GAINSCO requirements.
    • Upon hire, additional license(s) may be required.  If that is the case, license(s) must be obtained.
    • All licenses must be maintained in accordance with state requirements.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years as a Claims Supervisor or Team Leader with direct people management responsibilities in Auto Liability claims is required. 
  • Experience as a second-line leader or managing supervisors/team leaders is preferred.
  • Must have direct experience managing Liability coverage issues within the Auto Claims department. 
  • Insurance background required, non-standard auto insurance experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Image Right and Claims Manager systems.

  • Logical and reasoning skills to identify approaches and solutions to problems.

  • A willingness to work occasional weekends or extended hours as required.

  • Hybrid if within a commutable distance to the office in Richardson, Texas
  • Remote candidates will be considered, and will have 24 months from their hire date to relocate and transition into a hybrid work schedule
