Objective:
The Claims Consultant is responsible for servicing and maintaining an assignment of consulting client contracts and for delivering agreed-upon services in compliance with Consulting Division workflows, policies, and procedures. The Claims Consultant will work closely with the client’s carriers and claims administrators to identify coverage for complex losses and ensure claims are managed proactively and reserved properly. The Claims Consultant will deliver timely Consulting Reports to their consulting clients and the corresponding Heffernan Account Management Team to document their efforts and results.
This role requires workers' compensation experience and will be hybrid out of the Heffernan Los Angeles, CA office.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide services according to the services sold to the individual client, meet timeline commitments, including but not limited to consulting reports, mod calculations and analysis, claim review(s), client meetings, sales presentations, etc.
- Conduct virtual or on-site claim reviews in a proactive manner based upon the service contract.
- Educate and support client questions and act as a resource to client(s) and HIB Account Management team(s).
- Collaborate with all members of the Consulting division – provide back-up whenever necessary.
- Follow HIB Consulting Division Service Standards.
- Responsible for all aspects of a Consulting client, the consulting contract, and consulting services.
- Proactively work with the Support Team Member, providing them with clear direction and support.
- Actively recommend, promote, and utilize all services offered by HIB’s Consulting Division.
- Proactively work with HIB’s Producers and/or Account Management Teams to assist in their sales process – including preparation of the prospect presentation as well as prospect meetings (virtually or in person).
- Actively utilize technology that is available to efficiently manage both your workload as well as to obtain client information (i.e., LastPass, Carrier Online RMIS’s, web-based platforms like RMC, etc.)
- Special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education – High School graduate/GED required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Workers' Compensation claims handling required.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable, self-starter, with experienced decision-making skills. Must work well in a team environment.
- Must be proficient in MS Office, notably Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Sales & Marketing skills desired.
- Professional demeanor and behavior.
- Must be organized and able to manage time effectively.
- Professional demeanor and behavior as referenced in the Heffernan Habits.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000. The offer will depend on the geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. This role will be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. - Work environment is indoors, sitting at a desk or standing for extended periods of time.
