As a Citrix systems engineer, you will help design, support, and evolve Best Buy’s Windows and virtual server infrastructure. Working closely with the Windows Tech Lead, you’ll apply best practices in automation, infrastructure as code, and DevOps to improve system reliability, scalability, and efficiency. Your work will directly impact the stability and performance of core IT services, enabling Best Buy Canada to deliver seamless technology experiences for our teams and customers.

What you’ll do as a Citrix systems engineer:

  • Provide technical expertise on Citrix and virtualization infrastructure during projects, including documentation and implementation of solutions.

  • Act as a subject matter expert across Citrix, Windows, and Cloud technologies—partnering with internal and external teams to design scalable, secure, and resilient environments.

  • Help shape and implement the department’s strategic vision, driving improvements to infrastructure and processes.

  • Deliver L3 operational support with a focus on automation, infrastructure as code, deployment, orchestration, and monitoring.

  • Document infrastructure standards, changes, and SOPs to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

  • Participate in sprint planning and resolve technical blockers using your deep technical expertise.

  • Manage golden image creation, patching, and optimization for virtual desktop environments.

  • Guide technical and non-technical teams on best practices in end-user computing and automation.

  • Investigate infrastructure issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.

  • Ensure infrastructure security by applying patches and addressing vulnerabilities.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of enterprise-level Citrix administration experience.

  • Citrix certified or equivalent hands-on expertise.

  • Proven experience in large-scale virtualization (clustering, HA, DR, load balancing).

  • Expertise in XenApp, XenDesktop, Citrix ADC (NetScaler).

  • Experience with multiple hypervisors (Xen, KVM, Nutanix AHV, etc.).

  • Skilled in designing and managing persistent/non-persistent virtual desktops.

  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud and multi-datacenter environments.

  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.) and automation mindset.

  • Solid understanding of networking (DNS, AD, load balancing, caching, etc.).

  • Knowledge of app virtualization technologies (MSIX, App-V, App Attach).

  • Effective communicator, proactive, and adaptable to shifting priorities.

Bonus points…

  • Certifications: Azure, Nutanix, VMware, Citrix, GitOps, DevOps, Scrum, or ITIL.

  • Experience with CI/CD, Git, and infrastructure automation platforms.

  • Exposure to enterprise architecture and IT operations at scale.

$89,000.00 - $93,000.00

Starting pay offered will consider skills and experience. Your pay can grow as you build your career with us.
