The Chief of Staff at Tellius is a trusted advisor and execution partner to the CEO and leadership team. This role is designed to be a force multiplier—amplifying the impact of leadership by ensuring priorities are clearly defined, initiatives are executed with discipline, and the organization is aligned around the company’s mission.

The Chief of Staff operates at the company-wide scale, partnering directly with the CEO and executive team to drive cross-functional priorities, accelerate decision-making, and own execution of strategic initiatives.

Key Focus Areas
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead company-wide quarterly planning, and execution tracking. Ensure leadership priorities translate into measurable outcomes.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and create scalable rhythms across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the connector between teams, ensuring collaboration and accountability on strategic projects.
  • CEO Leverage: Act as a thought partner and proxy for the CEO in meetings, follow-ups, and communications to keep momentum on key decisions.
  • Board & Investor Engagement: Prepare board materials, investor updates, and fundraising support with sharp, data-driven insights.
  • Special Projects: Own and execute high-impact initiatives (e.g., GTM strategy, product launches, strategic partnerships) that don’t have a natural owner.
Background & Experience
  • Total 5-6 years of experience with 3-4 years of experience in management consulting or similar roles
  • Startup experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment; comfortable wearing multiple hats and moving between strategy and execution
  • Proven ability to work with C-level executives and cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Traits
  • Bias for action with a focus on execution and outcomes
  • Structured problem-solving mindset with strong analytical rigor
  • Executive presence and ability to influence without direct authority
  • High adaptability and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-changing environment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
