Job Description
Ares is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief of Staff to support the Head of HR in driving strategic initiatives and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR function. The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted advisor and integrator to the CHRO, enabling the HR leadership team to operate with clarity, focus, and alignment. This role ensures the CHRO’s agenda is executed effectively by orchestrating priorities, driving operational rhythm, and managing high-impact initiatives across the function. The Chief of Staff will facilitate communication, coordinate projects, and ensure alignment across the HR team and broader organization. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and strong leadership skills.

Primary functions & responsibilities
Provide comprehensive support to the CHRO, including managing priorities, tracking deliverables, and ensuring seamless execution of daily and strategic activities.
Draft and manage HR communications on behalf of the CHRO and the broader HR team ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
Lead and execute special projects, driving cross-functional collaboration and delivering high-impact outcomes.
Serve as an integrator across the HR function, facilitating collaboration, communication, and alignment among HR leaders and with other business units.
Develop and prepare executive-level materials, including presentations, reports, and briefing documents for board meetings, leadership offsites, and strategic reviews.
Conduct confidential analyses to support sensitive decision-making and strategic planning, maintaining the highest level of discretion and integrity.
Oversee the planning and execution of certain required recurring general HR reports/work products (e.g., the HR portion of the 10k and Sustainability Reports, HR-related RFP questions, HR KPI’s, etc.), ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
Help support the ongoing management of the HR department’s budget, including tracking expenditures and following up with stakeholders.
Support the overall management of HR department operations, including org chart updates, shared drive management, HR townhalls, HR intranet, etc.
Coordinate and manage executive meetings, including agenda development, content preparation, and post-meeting follow-up.
Plan and execute HR-related events such as leadership offsites, townhalls, team events, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Business Management, Communications, or related fields.
Experience Required:
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in human resources, business operations, or executive support roles, with at least 3-5 years in a strategic or chief of staff capacity.
Proven track record of supporting C-level executives, preferably within HR or people-focused functions.
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, confidential initiatives, and cross-functional programs with measurable outcomes.
Strong background in preparing executive-level materials, including board presentations, strategic reports, and leadership communications.
Strong ability to create and edit written communications (narrative and PPT) to tell a compelling and clear story. Advanced PowerPoint skills required.
Experience overseeing departmental operations, including budget planning, vendor and contract management, and event coordination.
Experience dealing with ambiguity and the ability to take general direction/guidance to create high-quality work product is critical.
Strong ability to manipulate and leverage data – minimum requirement for intermediate Excel capability.
Familiarity with HR systems and reporting tools to support decision-making.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$175,000-$225,000
