Help shape the long-term engineering strategy and roadmap. Work closely with the SVP of Engineering, serving as both a technical advisor and an operating hand. Provide deep technical feedback on current and envisioned projects across the organization. Design, engineer and implement reliable processes to scale the organization's efficiency. Own and implement high-impact projects that do not fall under the jurisdiction of any existing team. Influence engineering decisions throughout the organization either directly or indirectly. Have end-to-end ownership of backend infrastructure, including distributed data stores, data processing pipelines, and high-performance front-end servers. Ship code and documentation as needed, owning the testing, automation, and troubleshooting of features/products when doing so. Build partnerships cross-functionally, serving as a bridge between Engineering and other functions. Collaborate on weekly team planning meetings consisting of engineers, data analysts, and product managers. Review code and engineering designs written by other engineers and data analysts. Perform and review data analysis on experiment results in order to refine subsequent rounds of experimentation. Analyze systems, infrastructure, tooling, and processes to optimize for better performance. Own and create a technical excellence culture through state-of-the-art tools, risk-driven testing, code and design review, and coaching and performance management. Work as part of the technical team to deliver on software projects using proven development processes (Agile and SCRUM). Contribute to requirements gathering, architecture, and design of predictive, high performance marketing software. Collaborate with stakeholders on requirements and respond with deliverables in agile methodology for frequent releases. If circumstances require, manage and lead teams directly, including people management, coaching and development, compensation and hiring, and motivating and aligning the team with business objectives. 5% travel required to international and domestic locations for team collaboration and planning. CA, CO, ID, IL, GA, MA, MO, MN, NJ, NV, NY, OR, RI, TX, UT, WA. Salary: $330,000 - $450,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, plus 6 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or any occupation/position/job title involving software engineering and data analysis.
Must also have experience in the following: 6 years of professional experience performing coding utilizing modern languages including Java, Python, or Go; 6 years of professional experience working with computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and architecting enterprise systems; 2 years of professional experience working on all parts of the stack including user interface including webapps, backend components using relational databases, operations and data analysis; 1 year of professional experience building machine learning systems and teams at scale; 1 year of professional experience performing code utilizing Clojure; 1 year of professional experience building recommendation and classification machine learning systems and teams at scale, based on pytorch; and 1 year of professional experience building processes and systems for tech recruiting.
