Surgical Information Systems (SIS) is seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to lead marketing across its healthcare SaaS and revenue cycle management portfolio. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CMO will prioritize product marketing—strengthening positioning, packaging, pricing, launches, and sales enablement—while advancing the SIS brand and driving pipeline, revenue growth, and customer engagement. The CMO will align Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success around a unified go-to-market strategy. Partnering with the Chief Growth Officer, you will set market direction, messaging, and enablement strategy while supporting sales execution and revenue delivery. The role also presents marketing strategy, performance, and investment recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Go-to-Market and Product Marketing

  • Lead go-to-market strategy for SIS, owning its creation and execution for new and existing products, services, and market segments. Establish target customer profiles, positioning, launch plans, and measures of success, and align marketing, sales, product, and customer success against them.
  • Lead product marketing for the full SIS portfolio, including product positioning, value propositions, buyer-specific messaging, competitive differentiation, and launch readiness.
  • Own pricing and packaging recommendations in partnership with the CEO, product, and finance leaders, informed by market research, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback.
  • Direct market research, competitive intelligence, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities and inform product strategy and investment decisions with business leaders.
  • Lead sales enablement, ensuring the sales team has clear value propositions, buyer-specific messaging, customer evidence, and tools that support the sales process.

Executive Leadership and Marketing Strategy

  • Set the enterprise marketing vision, annual plan, and long-term priorities in support of SIS business strategy and growth objectives. Serve as the executive voice of the market and customer in company decisions.
  • Present to the Board of Directors on market opportunities, brand strategy, marketing performance, and return on investment. Recommend priorities, resources, and adjustments based on results.
  • Partner with the Chief Growth Officer, who leads the sales organization, to translate go-to-market strategy into pipeline goals, customer acquisition, and expansion priorities. The CMO owns go-to-market strategy, messaging, and enablement content; the Chief Growth Officer owns sales execution and quota attainment.

Brand and Corporate Communications

  • Own SIS brand strategy, positioning, and standards, including leading brand evolution or rebranding from research and brand architecture through messaging, visual identity, rollout, and measurement, aligning internal and external audiences.
  • Direct corporate communications, public relations, analyst relations, thought leadership, and executive visibility. Partner with executive leadership on reputation management and sensitive external communications.

Demand Generation and Customer Marketing

  • Oversee integrated demand generation across digital, content, email, search, social media, events, account-based marketing, and partner channels to generate qualified pipeline and support revenue goals.
  • Align with sales on lead qualification, handoffs, conversion, and pipeline reporting. Adjust campaign and channel investment based on performance and customer acquisition costs.
  • Partner with customer success, product, and sales to strengthen customer engagement, advocacy, retention, and expansion through education, customer stories, reference programs, and lifecycle marketing.

Marketing Operations and Investment

  • Own the marketing budget, resource allocation, and agency investments. Balance near-term growth needs with long-term brand development and demonstrate financial discipline.
  • Set performance measures for marketing-sourced and influenced pipeline, revenue contribution, conversion, acquisition efficiency, brand awareness, and customer engagement. Provide clear reporting and use results to improve execution.
  • Oversee marketing operations, technology, automation, analytics, and data quality. Establish consistent processes and responsible use of customer data in partnership with IT and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure marketing claims, content, and data practices meet healthcare regulatory and customer requirements, including HIPAA and the protection of patient information, in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and IT.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the marketing team, which reports directly to the CMO and translates strategy into coordinated execution. Set priorities, expectations, and accountability for the marketing organization.
  • Build the team’s capabilities, succession plans, and operating structure, including product marketing depth. Oversee agency and vendor relationships and promote effective collaboration across SIS business units.

What Success Looks Like

  • First 90 days: Assess current product positioning, the competitive landscape, the marketing team, and results to date. Align with the CEO and Chief Growth Officer on go-to-market priorities and the metrics used to measure marketing’s contribution.
  • By month 6: Deliver refreshed positioning and messaging for priority products, a sales enablement program in active use by the sales team, and a marketing plan and budget tied to agreed pipeline targets.
  • By month 12: Execute go-to-market and launch plans for priority products and segments, show measurable growth in marketing-sourced and influenced pipeline, and have the right team structure and capabilities in place.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 or more years of progressive marketing experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility for a broad marketing function in a B2B SaaS, technology, or services business. Healthcare technology experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership of product marketing, including product launches, positioning, competitive differentiation, and pricing and packaging input, ideally in healthcare technology.
  • Proven success creating and executing go-to-market strategies in close partnership with sales, building qualified pipeline, and delivering measurable revenue growth across multiple products or services.
  • Experience presenting to boards and executive teams, managing budgets, and leading senior marketing leaders through organizational change.
  • Experience leading a company rebrand or brand repositioning from strategy through implementation, with demonstrated results in brand positioning, market recognition, or business performance, strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Leadership Skills

  • Strong command of product marketing, go-to-market strategy, brand strategy, demand generation, customer marketing, communications, and marketing operations.
  • Commercial and financial judgment; ability to turn market insights and analytics into clear investment decisions and measurable priorities.
  • Clear executive communication, sound judgment, and the ability to influence across functions.

Benefit package including:

  • Medical, Vision, Dental, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance
  • Vacation/Sick time
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid Holidays
  • SIS Cares Day

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
