You will work closely with the Creative SVP, VP of Production, Producer, CG Supervisor, and other key stakeholders to ensure that the highest quality content is delivered on time, within budget, and meets the creative and technical standards of the project.  You will also ensure the producibility of the creative requests are within the scope of the schedule and budget of the project.

You will manage producers, guide teams, and ensure that effective workflows and strong communication are maintained throughout the production process. This role requires a deep understanding of both the creative and technical aspects of CG animation production, and the ability to balance leadership with hands-on problem-solving.

About the role:

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & Production Oversight:

  • Collaborate with production leaders to develop and implement a smooth, efficient workflow across all stages of production, from development to final delivery.
  • Oversee the entire production pipeline, ensuring that the creative vision is translated into modeling, rigging, animation, and final output.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Flying Bark management team, clients, and vendors to report on project status, resolve issues, and ensure all deadlines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Supervise and mentor producers and other key personnel, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
  • Ensure the quality and style of the project align with creative briefs, client expectations, and network-approved guidelines.

Production Planning & Management:

  • Oversee all phases of production, from script review and storyboard creation to animation, ensuring consistency and adherence to CG scope and timelines.
  • Work with teams to resolve any technical or creative issues that arise, offering solutions and maintaining high morale.
  • Help shape the creative vision of the project, ensuring that aesthetic and technical elements meet expectations.
  • Ensure that all revisions, feedback, and retakes are completed on time, with a focus on maintaining creative integrity and production efficiency.

Client & Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, professional relationships and ensuring that contractual obligations are met.
  • Communicate effectively with all production teams, both internal and external (including overseas studios), to ensure alignment on goals, style, and deadlines.
  • Act as a liaison between the production team and key stakeholders, ensuring the flow of information and clear communication of any production challenges or adjustments.

About you:

  • 8+ years of experience producing longform CG animated series or films, with proven experience in overseeing the entire production process (from development to final delivery).
  • Expertise in CG workflows, including modeling, rigging, animation, and final output, with a deep understanding of production management tools such as Microsoft Excel, MS Project, Shotgrid, and other relevant software.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage, mentor, and inspire diverse teams of artists and producers.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and manage competing priorities under pressure while maintaining a positive, solution-focused attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to handle sensitive, confidential material.

Additional Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of animation production pipelines, including storyboarding, animatics, voice recording, and post-production.
  • Experience in CG TV or feature animation preferred.
  • Animation direction experience is a plus.
  • A track record of successfully managing budgets and schedules, while driving creative outcomes.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
