About Grafton Sciences
We’re building AI systems with general physical ability — the capacity to experiment, engineer, or manufacture anything. We believe achieving this is a key step towards building superintelligence. With deep technical roots and real-world progress at scale (e.g., a $42M NIH project), we’re pushing the frontier of physical AI. Joining us means inventing from first principles, owning real systems end-to-end, and helping build a capability the world has never had before.

A core part of the role involves identifying and executing sophisticated non-dilutive financing options, including venture debt, private credit facilities, and other forms of structured capital suited for large scale, milestone driven programs. This is a role for a finance leader who can navigate complex funding environments, cultivate lender relationships, and drive fast, high quality deal execution.
Responsibilities
· Build and execute a comprehensive capital strategy covering equity, structured credit, venture debt, and additional non-dilutive instruments.
· Lead engagement with venture debt firms, private credit funds, and specialty lenders, developing competitive financing options that support program scale.
· Structure, negotiate, and close credit facilities that align with long horizon revenue cycles and the company’s strategic milestones.
· Manage financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning that inform leadership decisions and program priorities.
· Establish finance systems covering cash management, reporting, audit readiness, compliance, and long-range planning.
· Partner with operations, legal, and technical leadership to ensure financing strategies fit program timelines and revenue frameworks.
· Present financial strategy, performance, and capital needs to leadership, the board, and external stakeholders.
· Serve as a trusted partner to founders and executives, shaping the long-term financial architecture of the company.
Qualifications
· Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in a venture backed deep tech, advanced hardware, robotics, or federally supported programs environment.
· Track record of raising venture equity and securing significant venture debt or private credit facilities.
· Expertise with non-dilutive financing, structured lending, receivables-oriented credit, or similar capital strategies.
· Strong network across venture capital, venture debt, private credit, and specialty finance providers.
· Deep skill in financial modeling, capital markets, and planning for complex, milestone-oriented programs.
· Clear, persuasive communicator with strong negotiation instincts and executive presence.
· High range operator comfortable with both strategic design and hands on execution.
· Demonstrated commitment to rigor, precision, and high performance.
