Full-time / Onsite (5 days/week)
We’re hiring an in-house CPA to take ownership of our accounting and compliance foundation. As a Senior Accountant (CPA), you’ll play a hands-on role in managing our core financial operations—owning monthly closes, tax strategy, audit readiness, and systems setup. This is a rare opportunity to build finance infrastructure from the ground up and partner closely with leadership in a fast-scaling healthtech startup.
We’ve grown quickly, and now need someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves solving unstructured problems, and can bring rigor to our financial systems while staying lean and pragmatic.
What You’ll Do- Own the monthly close process, ensuring timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting
Build scalable accounting workflows using tools like QuickBooks
Manage all tax planning and preparation, ensuring compliance while optimizing for growth-stage efficiency
Lead financial audits and coordinate with external accounting/tax partners as needed
Monitor spend, track budget adherence, and help develop internal financial controls
Work cross-functionally to support data accuracy and finance-related needs across the org
Bring a systems mindset: help us automate and streamline accounting processes wherever possible
- Licensed CPA with 1–4 years of experience in accounting or finance (public + startup experience a plus)
Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP, tax compliance, and best practices for early-stage companies
Experienced with QuickBooks Online and comfortable building and troubleshooting complex spreadsheets in Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., multi-tab models, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, error tracing)
Ensure compliance with state-specific tax obligations, including California state tax regulations relevant to startups and multi-state payroll tax filings
Highly organized and analytical - you can build clean financial systems in messy environments
Able to communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
Comfortable working onsite in our San Francisco office with a typical 9am–7pm schedule, aligned to our team’s working hours and pace
At Mochi, we believe your best work happens when you feel your best—so we’ve designed an environment that fuels your creativity, supports your growth, and makes every day exciting.
