Position:    Procurement Category Manager
Report to Title:     Director, Procurement
Location:    Remote
Date:    August 2025

Position Overview

The Category Manager will have direct responsibility for the sourcing, strategic planning, and supplier management for the Chemicals and Battery Separators categories. The major responsibilities will revolve around strategic global sourcing, ensuring supplier reliability, supply quality, cost-effectiveness, on-time delivery, and supply network optimization.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage the category assigned in a systematic and well-structured manner to improve and maximize spend and business performance.
  • Analyzing spend data, negotiating favorable pricing and terms, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., cross-functional teams, senior management) to understand their needs and ensure sourcing initiatives align with business objectives
  • Reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers to ensure they meet the organization’s needs and mitigate risks
  • Responsible for all new supplier selection in defined category, including qualification, new purchase ramp up and supplier management from NPI through EOL.
  • Define and execute the strategy for assigned category and its sub-category, if applicable.
  • Ensure supply reliability, best cost, on-time delivery, high technology/innovation and speed via supply network optimization, multiple sourcing, quotation, supplier performance and relationship management.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering or related fields
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • 5-7 years of procurement experience
  • Strong data analysis skills (Excel)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international 15%, slightly more in 1st year

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS or similar certification
  • Project management
  • Experience supporting a global organization.
  • Matching category experience.
  • Battery Manufacturing experience.
