Overview of the Role 

  • As a Category Analyst II at C.A. Fortune, you will play an important role in supporting our clients on our national team. You will support these clients in growing their businesses by providing actionable insights and recommendations, based on and derived from data. You will maintain the go-to-market analytics designed to support, track, and grow core and new product initiatives for all retailers and channels. You will provide the analytics and insights needed to optimize pricing, promotion, distribution, and shelf placement as well as participate in business review analyses. The position will maintain value-added and actionable category management tools, incorporating customer learning and brand insights that will guide sales and the client to achieve Key Performance objectives. This position will perform as if they are an internal consultant and trusted advisor to our sales organization as well as our clients.
  • Fully remote; if local to Chicago, IL would observe a hybrid schedule
  • Salary range $65,000 - $70,000 based on experience, qualifications and skills.
  • 5-10% travel requirements to aid in client presentations and team meetings

What You’ll Do at C.A. Fortune 

  • Data Analytics: Analyze sets of data to provide insights and recommendations addressing product, placement, pricing, and promotions to support the achievement of sales and marketing objectives. Project work will include analytics related to topline reporting, sales reviews, category reviews, overall business trends, merchandising, assortment, pricing, and shelving across the omnichannel landscape.
  • Category & Business Insights:
    • Identify and validate opportunities within a given category or market using customer POS, syndicated data, competitive pricing, market data, and other sources to provide actionable recommendations for valuable clients.
    • Create reporting for meetings and developing storylines and presentations to effectively communicate category findings both internally and externally.
  • Performance & Promotional Analytics:
    • Develop ongoing reporting that enable category leadership to quickly understand market trends and opportunities.
    • Evaluate effectiveness of programs and communicate best practices internally and externally.
    • Partner with Insights Leads to present sales strategies and reviews to clients

What You Should Bring to the Table 

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2-4 years CPG industry sales organization experience, preferably in a sales/analytical capacity. (Natural/Specialty food and/or beverage preferred).
  • Data & Analytics:
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel & PowerPoint programs.
    • Experience in SPINS (Satori), Nielsen and/or IRI data.
    • Experience in selling story development & category reviews.
    • Attention to detail and technical, report running, and analytical abilities.
    • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Communication skills: Ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner.
  • Process Efficiency & Innovation:
    • Organizational and time management skills.
    • Competency in multi-tasking and problem-solving with focus on meeting deadlines.
    • A record as a team player plus the ability to work independently given general direction.

You Will Stand Out if  You Have

  • CPG industry sales organization experience, in a sales/analytical capacity in Natural/Specialty food and/or beverage
  • Experience in category management 
  • Experience in SPINS (Satori), Nielsen and/or IRI data
