Summary/Job Purpose:

Manage collection, analysis, administration and quality control of the company’s property data for first party lines of business. Support the analysis and quality control efforts for property aggregations and PML calculations. Handle portfolio level activity for MSMM including report generation and collaboration with AIR to produce monthly data files and quarterly portfolio analysis and exhibits. Complete analysis related to portfolio level profitability and trend indications.  

Essential Functions:

  • Handle portfolio level activity for MSMM including report generation and collaboration with AIR to produce monthly data files and quarterly portfolio analysis and exhibits.
  • Real time event modeling using Alert and AIR’s Geospatial Module.
  • Ad hoc reporting on aggregation risk, departmental profiles, LOB return period numbers…etc.
  • Manage catastrophe control protocols and the monitor same Assist management with treaty placement by collecting and analyzing exposures and loss information to ensure most efficient pricing available in the current reinsurance market.
  • Catastrophe Modeling: Identify and track aggregate catastrophic exposures in order to assist in the prevention of undue loss potential to the policy holder surplus of the company.
  • Maintain and control quality of property catastrophe data by monthly/quarterly/annual file reviews and completion of AIR Worldwide checklists.  
     
  • Track and monitor underwriting data by working with IT and Underwriting Management to develop and provide analysis on the data necessary to manage MSMM’s property portfolio. 
  • Provide support to field underwriters in the use and problem resolution in areas of catastrophe modeling (AIR).
  • Preen quarterly PML and portfolio reviews to senior management.
  • Work with MSM’s catastrophe modeling vendor (AIR), underwriting, reinsurance team and management to develop and implement “best practices” for ensuring data quality across the property portfolio.  
  • Underwriting Training: Assist in the creation, delivery or coordination of internal or external training programs related to MSMM’s Catastrophe Management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage a team of 2-3 Cat Modeling staff.

Education and Experience Required: 

  • Proficiency with AIR Catastrophe Modeling, Touchstone, Alert, Geospatial Module…etc.
  • CEEM certification a plus.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and UM.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work with a diverse group of leaders, underwriters and employees at all levels in the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) preferred
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
