Job Description

We are seeking a full-time highly creative instructional designer with expert storytelling skills to develop industry-leading content for our top tier automotive clients. The ideal individual for this position has experience developing e-Learning and Instructor-led or virtual Instructor-led classes.

The ideal candidate can develop new curriculum for our automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).  The ideal candidate has experience developing eLearning and Instructor-led courses as well as designing video scripts for micro-learning.  You will be a great fit if you love developing highly engaging narratives to teach through storytelling – and you have a passion for creating interactive online training!

Your instructional content will be delivered to retail (dealership) personnel in the sales, service, parts, and warranty departments, as well as to corporate personnel.  Areas of focus will include sales and service process, customer experience, operations management, and soft skills, as well as systems training.

In this role you will partner with our account team, graphic designers, production, and our (OEM) clients. Responsibilities include reviewing client materials, conducting training analysis, determining appropriate instructional strategies (according to Bloom’s Taxonomy), writing communications, guides, developing course outlines, storyboards, eLearning production notes and, in the case of instructor-led training, training materials that include presentation decks, facilitator guides, and participant guides.

Responsibilities

  • Design and write web-based and instructor-led materials using both traditional as well as modern, interactive, and narrative-based learning approaches
  • Develop course outlines, storyboards, video and voiceover scripts, job aids, and production direction notes
  • Create both new training and updates to existing OEM training courses
  • Support clients with development of strategic training roadmaps based on OEM vision and priorities, by learning the clients’ business
  • Apply knowledge of eLearning principles, instructional theories (including ADDIE, design thinking, SAM, etc.), and adult education to design engaging interactive training
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to differing OEM training styles, objectives, and preferences for their training curriculum
  • Attend internal and client meetings
  • Participate in multiple projects at a given time
  • Consistently deliver projects on time and within expectations

Qualifications

  • Five (5) + years of automotive instructional design experience
  • Experience designing e-Learning, video, and instructor-led training
  • Retail automotive experience a significant plus
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail and quality of work delivered
  • Dedication to client satisfaction, and a passion for modern learning theory
  • Ability to work in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently within timelines and budget
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Articulate 360

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
