The Role

We are looking for an experienced capital markets transactional attorney to join our fast growing team. This is an opportunity for a collaborative, dedicated individual to join Sunbit’s existing team of in-house attorneys. You will work with different departments across the organization to provide legal advice, negotiate deals, and draft agreements.

Requirements

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Take the lead in negotiating and drafting contracts and service agreements related to transactions.
  • Manage due diligence and contract negotiations of various capital markets transactions: warehouse debt facilities, asset sale, securitization transactions, etc.
  • Review and negotiate transaction documents prepared by outside counsel, including asset purchase agreements, funding agreements, and contractual arrangements for asset securitization and financing transactions. 
  • Consistently anticipate and propose mitigation strategies for the management of potential contractual, compliance and financial risks.
  • Routinely review and negotiate various vendor and merchant agreements. 
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with different departments in the business.
  • Coordinate with other members of the in-house legal team to assist on a wide variety of legal tasks.
  • Advise internal departments regarding compliance with applicable regulations, laws and policies and identify legal and business risks.

What You Bring To The Table:

  • Law degree from a reputable law school
  • Membership in CA State Bar or In-House Counsel Registration in CA
  • 4+ years of law firm or in-house hands-on experience handling variety of capital market transactions
  • You definitely have extensive hands-on experience handling multiple capital markets transactions. 
  • Experience reviewing vendor agreements is a plus. 
  • Ability and willingness to handle routine vendor agreements on a regular basis; we are a small and lean team and every attorney handles a number of projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Impeccable organizational skills; if handling multiple tasks, staying organized and being able to prioritize are your development areas, you will not be fulfilled by this position
  • Superior analytical ability and strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative nature
  • Ability to work under pressure for a fast-paced growth-stage company, manage partner expectations, and prioritize multiple projects and assignments
  • Experience in banking, consumer finance, or compliance is a plus
  • Experience in open-end or closed-end consumer credit is also a plus

How We Pay: 

  • We believe in paying fairly and equitably based on a number of factors including but not limited to previous experience, relevant work history, interview performance, geographical location, internal equity, and expected level of ownership 
  • We are targeting a base salary of $145,000 - $225,000 for this role
  • This role will also be granted company equity via stock options
