The Command Center Solutions and Services team delivers solutions and maintenance services to the public safety sector. We are committed to providing technology and tools which will allow customers to focus on their mission, and enable them to respond faster with smarter and safer decisions.
The projects contained in the Command Center portfolio include large Statewide, Regional, and major Municipal Public Safety Applications (CAD, Mobile, Records Management, Crime Analysis, and Jail), Emergency Call Handling/Next Gen 911 solutions, Asset Management Solutions, and other applications used in the Command Center.

Job Description
The CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) Network System Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, security, and high availability of the organization's mission-critical Public Safety network infrastructure, including the Motorola PremierOne (P1) Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) platform. This role supports a 24/7/365 emergency communications environment and ensures system reliability, CJIS compliance, and operational continuity.
The position requires strong, hands-on experience in virtualized infrastructure, container platforms, network architecture and administration (including routing/switching and firewalls), and managing all network services within a high-availability, ultra-low latency environment.
Core Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Administer and support the Motorola PremierOne (P1 CAD) network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Firewalls/VPNs) supporting 24/7 mission-critical applications.
Perform network monitoring, performance tuning (QOS, traffic shaping), and capacity planning to ensure ultra-low latency and high-throughput.
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network hardware, protocols, and third-party network components, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.
Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Coordinate with Motorola and third-party vendors for system upgrades, patches, and issue resolution.
Maintain high-availability configurations, failover clusters, and disaster recovery replication.
Administer and support network devices including Routers, Switches, and next-gen firewalls.
Manage and support virtual infrastructure using VMware vSphere.
Administer containerized services running on Red Hat OpenShift.
Implement and maintain CJIS-compliant security controls.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Document system configurations, procedures, and change management activities.
Lead process improvement initiatives and perform root-cause analysis to enhance workflow efficiencies and system performance.
Manage and troubleshoot enterprise hardware and software, specifically Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server, and public safety applications (CAD/Mobile).
Develop and execute customer operations policies while formulating long-term strategies for technical operational excellence.
Cultivate productive alliances with customers and end-users to ensure technical support is tailored to specific operational needs.
Ideal Candidates:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience, qualifications, and location.
Reside in the Southeast of the United States.
Willing to travel if required to resolve issues on-site.
3+ years of hands-on experience designing and supporting mission-critical, low-latency network environments.
Experience configuring and managing load balancers and Application Delivery Controllers.
Expertise in administering and troubleshooting next-generation firewalls and VPN technologies.
3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Motorola PremierOne (P1).
Familiarity with CAD integrations including Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), 911 call handling systems, and GIS/mapping services.
Strong troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments.
Ability to support systems during active public safety incidents and severe weather events.
Effective communication with technical staff, security teams, and network vendors on complex network architecture topics..
Strong documentation and change management discipline.
A proactive approach to risk mitigation and system resilience.
Understanding of CJIS Security Policy requirements.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
Target Base Salary Range: $100,000-$110,000
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Basic Requirements
Required Skills:
High School diploma, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Public Safety.
5 years of experience supporting Mission-Critical Systems.
Must be able to obtain a background clearance as required by our government customers.
