The Boeing CompanyBoeing supports a fleet of 275 Globemaster III Airlifters in a multiyear, multi-billion dollar sustainment contract as well as developing significant capability upgrades. This position leads a diverse group of 15-20 employees performing engineering and technical activities including the areas of Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering (such as Human Factors Engineering), Airworthiness and Cyber Security. This role will drive successful project execution and advance cyber security protocols that will keep the development, lab and platform environments safe from cyber-attack. The Manager will also forecast and manage staffing and budgets, mentor and grow staff capability and capacity, and work with other managers and suppliers in an Agile development environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals.
- Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements.
- Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
- Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
- Manage, develop and motivate employees while leading the following C-17 teams:
- Systems Engineering
- Airworthiness
- Cyber Security
- Human Factors and overall specialty engineering integration into projects
- Engineering Quality and Process Mgt
- The successful candidate will have experience in lifecycle project execution including customer requirements analysis, KPP development and management, system requirements development, requirements allocation, design, system integration and test.
- The successful candidate will have experience with communicating directly with customers both verbally and written and will have an engaged and servant leadership style.
- The employee will drive quality throughout the organization including via internal and external systems engineering reviews, a systems engineering mindset including focus on risk management, trades studies with cyber security knowledge preferred.
- Experience in platform system safety analysis and safety review meetings is a plus
- Experience with project scope, schedule and budget mgt including earned value management will help the incoming employee provide value.
- This position also requires the skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
- This Systems Engineering position reaches across the broad C-17 and BGS organization so knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines and interaction across the functions will serve the candidate well.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 15+ years of experience in an engineering discipline (i.e. mechanical, aerospace, chemical)
- Experience with Vee Life Cycle Model
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, or foreign equivalent
- 5+ years of management experience in an engineering leadership role as either a manager or lead
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 1+ years of experience as a CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management)
- Experience using model based engineering tools and methods
- Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers
- 1+ years of experience with one or more of the following; systems safety, systems engineering, project management
- 1+ year of exposure to cyber security platform, lab and development requirements
- Experience working on an Agile team using Agile methodologies
