Lead requirements engineering and gap analysis to modernize a TIBCO-based integration platform into modular, cloud-ready microservices. Translate legacy workflows into functional specs, map SLAs and performance requirements, coordinate stakeholders (Business, Arch, DevOps), and lead UAT to validate parity and data integrity during migration.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategically-minded Business Systems Analyst to play a pivotal role in our enterprise-wide platform modernization. You will be the bridge between our current state—a robust but tightly coupled TIBCO-based MDD (Managed Data Delivery) environment—and a future-state architecture designed for modularity, cloud-readiness, and high-velocity operations.

Your mission is to translate complex technical dependencies into actionable requirements that ensure we decouple our systems without disrupting critical SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Engineering: Elicit, analyze, and document comprehensive business and technical requirements. You will translate legacy TIBCO Business Works workflows and MFT configurations into modern, technology-agnostic functional specifications.
  • Gap & Dependency Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis of the existing "as-is" environment to identify tight couplings and proprietary dependencies. Map these to "to-be" microservices or modular architectural patterns.
  • Stakeholder Orchestration: Act as the primary liaison between Business Operations, Enterprise Architecture, and DevOps teams to ensure the modernization roadmap aligns with operational reality and strict performance SLAs.
  • SLA & Performance Mapping: Define and document non-functional requirements, ensuring that the modernized platform meets or exceeds current throughput, latency, and reliability benchmarks.
  • UAT & Validation: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts, defining test cases that validate functional parity between the legacy TIBCO environment and the new platform.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 9+ years as a Business Systems Analyst, with a proven track record in middleware or integration modernization projects.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of integration patterns and experience working with TIBCO (BusinessWorks/MFT) or similar enterprise service bus (ESB) technologies.
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to deconstruct monolithic or tightly coupled systems into modular, scalable components.
  • Agile Proficiency: Expert at writing high-quality User Stories, maintaining backlogs in Jira/Azure DevOps, and participating in Sprint ceremonies.
  • Data Driven: Proficient in SQL and data mapping to ensure data integrity during platform transitions.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with Cloud Migration or Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of modern MFT (Managed File Transfer) alternatives and API Gateway management.
  • Background in financial services or industries with high-compliance/low-latency requirements.

    Compensation, Benefits and Duration

    Minimum Compensation: USD 38,000
    Maximum Compensation: USD 135,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
Medical, vision, and dental benefits, 401k retirement plan, variable pay/incentives, paid time off, and paid holidays are available for full time employees.
This position is not available for independent contractors
No applications will be considered if received more than 120 days after the date of this post

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
