Position Summary

Pacific Health is seeking a solution-focused Business Solutions Analyst to partner directly with our supervisors and managers to solve real, everyday business and operational challenges through technology. Rather than simply fixing tickets, this role sits shoulder-to-shoulder with department leaders to understand how their teams work, uncover pain points, and design practical tools that make their jobs easier and their teams more effective.

You will bring both out-of-the-box thinking and familiarity with prebuilt solutions — for example, building a Google Sheet that helps a manager track staff goals and metrics, standing up a shared tracker or dashboard, configuring a form to streamline a manual process, or automating a repetitive task. In this Level 1 role you own smaller, self-contained solutions end to end, working alongside senior IT staff on larger initiatives. Success is measured by the tangible improvements your solutions deliver and the trust you build with the leaders you support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders. Work directly with supervisors and managers to understand their goals, workflows, and day-to-day challenges, and translate those needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Design real solutions. Identify the root cause behind a recurring challenge and design a solution that actually addresses it — whether that means a custom-built tool, a smarter process, or an off-the-shelf option configured to fit.
  • Build prebuilt & no-code tools. Create trackers, spreadsheets, dashboards, forms, and templates that solve specific problems — for example, a Google Sheet to help a manager track staff goals and metrics, a shared scheduling tracker, or a form that replaces a manual paper process.
  • Think out of the box. Explore creative and unconventional approaches, and evaluate prebuilt or low-cost solutions before building from scratch, always weighing what will be simplest for the team to adopt and maintain.
  • Automate & streamline. Reduce manual, repetitive work for leaders by automating routine steps and connecting the tools they already use (e.g., Google Workspace / Microsoft 365, forms, and automation tools).
  • Configure & implement. Set up, configure, and roll out solutions within the organization’s approved platforms, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and easy to use.
  • Enable & train. Walk supervisors and managers through the solutions you build, provide short how-to guidance, and make sure they can use and maintain each tool confidently on their own.
  • Gather requirements & iterate. Capture what each leader needs, deliver a working first version quickly, then refine it based on feedback so the solution keeps improving.
  • Document solutions. Maintain clear documentation and templates so each solution is repeatable, reusable, and can be shared across departments.
  • Collaborate with IT. Work with senior IT staff, systems administrators, and vendors on larger or more complex needs, and escalate work that exceeds the scope of this level.
  • Protect data & comply. Follow all HIPAA, data privacy, and IT security policies; safeguard protected health information (PHI) and build solutions that keep sensitive data secure.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in information technology, computer science, business, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • One or more years of experience building practical technology solutions, analyzing business needs, or supporting operational teams (internships and relevant coursework considered).
  • Hands-on proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 — especially building solutions in Google Sheets / Excel (formulas, data organization, and basic dashboards) and creating forms and templates.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand a business problem and design a practical, easy-to-use solution to address it.
  • A resourceful, creative mindset — comfortable finding both out-of-the-box approaches and configuring prebuilt tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner with non-technical supervisors and managers and translate their needs into working tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize effectively, and follow through to delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating dashboards, trackers, or reporting tools that help leaders monitor goals and metrics.
  • Familiarity with no-code / low-code and automation tools (e.g., Google Apps Script, Power Automate, Zapier, or similar) and integrating everyday applications.
  • Experience supporting a healthcare or other regulated environment, including familiarity with HIPAA and PHI handling.
  • Exposure to electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems such as Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, athenahealth, or similar, and pulling operational data into reporting tools.
  • Industry certifications such as Google Workspace Administrator, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, or related solution/automation credentials.

Skills & Competencies

  • Solution focus. Looks past the surface request to the underlying need and delivers something that genuinely helps.
  • Creativity & resourcefulness. Finds out-of-the-box approaches and knows when a prebuilt tool is the smarter choice.
  • Partnership. Builds trust with supervisors and managers and treats their challenges as their own.
  • Analytical thinking. Breaks down workflows, spots inefficiencies, and structures data in useful ways.
  • Communication. Translates between business needs and technical solutions and sets clear expectations.
  • Follow-through. Delivers working solutions, iterates on feedback, and sees each one to adoption.
  • Integrity & discretion. Handles sensitive information and PHI with confidentiality and care.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
