About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like Mastercard, Visa, Robinhood, and PayPal.

About the Team

Business Operations at Paxos will be a small, high-impact team that works directly with leadership on the company’s most important priorities to drive and enable growth of the business. As the first hire in BizOps, you will help define the role of the function. BizOps will partner with teams across the business to lead mission critical, cross-functional efforts, deliver objective analysis and insights, and incubate new roles or functions as the business scales. You may dig into winning new market segments, design new business systems and processes to scale Paxos, help us build and launch new products, or unlock new revenue opportunities. Whatever it is, we work on what will move the needle most for Paxos. The focus is on results, not activity, and to have fun doing it. If you like hard problems, are analytical, and are an amazing teammate, we want to hear from you. You will be setting the tone for how Paxos solves ambiguous hard problems.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with senior leaders to define strategy or execute against important trajectory-bending initiatives such as new product launches, market entry, or strategic partnerships.
  • Help identify and implement new opportunities that grow and increase the efficiency of the business.
  • Lead analytical deep dives on growth drivers, unit economics, and customer behavior to guide decision-making.
  • Diagnose bottlenecks in operations (e.g. onboarding, support, etc) and design scalable solutions.
  • Act as a “go-to” problem solver for unstructured, high-priority questions. Perform the analyses and research that help us make the right decisions for Paxos.
  • Support with operating cadences such as OKRs, business reviews, and quarterly planning.
  • Incubate and help run new teams as business needs scales.
  • Over time, recruit and mentor additional team members to scale the function.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating in ambiguity. You might come from consulting, investing, product/strategy/operations roles at a fast-growing (fin)tech company.

  • You are deeply curious, analytical (you get a kick out of digging deep into data and reading about minutia), and like to think from first principles.
  • You act like a business owner, thinking across functions and time horizons. You do whatever it takes to execute on complex projects. You want to win.
  • You have a knack for working well with a wide range of people, whether an engineer, a compliance analyst or a senior client at a Fortune50 financial institution.
  • You excel in fast-paced, high-growth environments, with a track record of solving unstructured problems and driving clarity where none exists
  • Your analytical skills go well beyond excel: you can get your hands dirty with SQL and Python (or are taking a course to learn how to do so)
  • You are defaulting to AI, but take pride in your work. You are building agents, vibe-coding apps, and more.
  • You have 4-10 years of work experience

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
