Overview
At Blacksmith, we provide cloud infra to help companies run their CI (GitHub Actions) substantially faster and cheaper. Our mission is to build a CI cloud. Our bet is that CI, as a class of workloads, is ready to be unbundled from the hyperscaler clouds (AWS/GCP/Azure). This is a bold statement, and we have an ambitious roadmap ahead.

Some things we're proud of

  • We orchestrate millions of VMs for CI jobs each month over our own fleet of bare-metal hardware.

  • We power CI for 600+ fast-growing startups like Ashby, Slope, AtoB, Pylon, Superblocks, and Finch.

  • Founders: Aditya Maru and Aayush Shah were early systems engineers at Cockroach Labs. Aditya (JP) Jayaprakash worked on search infra and was later a founding member of the ads team at Faire.

  • We went through Y Combinator's W24 batch and raised our seed round from Google Ventures.

  • We're growing extremely fast and hit $1m ARR with a team of just 4 in less than 12 months.

You are a good fit if you

  • Are sharp, resourceful, and thrive in ambiguity. You can quickly pick things up, make sense of messy or undefined problems, and just figure it out.

  • Care deeply about making the founders more effective. You operate like a force multiplier by anticipating needs, unblocking bottlenecks, and proactively driving leverage.

  • Can own and run core operational processes that keep the company moving — from paying bills to onboarding employees to managing vendors.

  • Are detail-oriented and sweat the small stuff like calendars, docs, follow-ups, and processes all run better with you involved.

  • Have strong instincts for what matters and when. You notice issues before they become problems and take initiative without being asked.

  • Are energized by a high-intensity, fast-moving environment where there’s always more to do than people to do it.

  • Don’t mind grinding — you’re down to do what it takes to get it done, whether it’s helping with logistics for a launch, following up on loose ends, or solving unexpected problems.

  • Have prior experience in startups, consulting, operations, or other fast-paced environments where ambiguity is the norm.

  • Want to be part of a small team where your work has real impact, and where success in this role can evolve into leading a critical part of the company over time.

  • Enjoy working in person 5 days a week in SF.

Compensation and benefitsMedical, Vision, and Dental insurance.

  • Competitive base + equity.

  • Unlimited PTO.

  • Quarterly offsite.

  • Early-exercise stock options

  • 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (US)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
