Join Cartwheel to help tackle the student mental health crisis.

Cartwheel is an early-stage company building a new kind of mental health program for kids that puts schools at the center. We see our role as supporting school staff who see kids every single day. Instead of going around them, we collaborate with them. This means:

  • Earlier intervention
  • Higher student and family engagement in care
  • Better coordination among the trusted adults in a student’s life

Kids shouldn't just aspire to get out of bed and drag themselves to class. They should be able to experience joy. They deserve to envision and build a life they’re excited to live. If you join Cartwheel, you’ll help make this vision a reality for millions of students across the country. We’re backed by top investors including Menlo Ventures, Reach Capital, General Catalyst, BoxGroup, and Able Partners, and we're looking for mission-driven teammates to join our team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Cartwheel is a successful and growing telehealth platform revolutionizing access to mental health care for schools, students, and families. We work with nearly 200 school districts to provide life-saving mental health services to a diverse population (50-50 Medicaid/Commercial mix).

We’re scaling quickly – from about 1,500 therapy sessions per week across 9 states today to more than double the number of sessions across 20 states in the next year.

As Cartwheel’s Business Operations Analyst, you will take ownership of key processes and projects that drive our growth and efficiency. You will dive in quickly, rapidly learning our model and operations, identifying areas for improvement, and taking initiative to implement changes that streamline our workflows and enhance performance. We’re looking for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, iterates quickly, and is always looking for ways to make an impact.

Role type: This is a W2, Full-Time, Salaried position

Location: US Remote with a strong preference for candidates who can work hybrid from Cambridge, MA

Start date: Late Spring, Early Summer 2025

Reports to: Business Operations Manager, April Liu

  • Identify inefficiencies, test solutions, and continuously iterate to improve processes that support our rapid growth.
  • Support cross-functional strategic initiatives as the business demands. This can include projects like new service lines, new strategic partnerships, new state expansions, etc.
  • Support broader Operations team and other teams across Cartwheel such as Clinical Care and School Success in ongoing process improvement initiatives, including evaluating needs, running analyses, and implementing new initiatives to drive quality and performance.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
