Role Description 

Join us and play a critical role in shaping the future of FinTech. As part of the Office of the COO (Chief Operating Officer), you will work side by side and roll up your sleeves with the leader of the world’s most successful investment technology organization and the team that makes it happen. The COO team works closely with senior leaders to define our technology, business and talent strategy as well as sharpening execution, accountability and data-driven decision making. You will establish objectives, focus areas, action plans and build the bridge between current and future state. You will frame and analyze complex problems, develop recommendations and partner across the firm to drive implementation. This position will give you immense exposure and will afford the chance to learn about the financial industry and the exciting intersection of investing and technology.

Platform ASO Role: 

Platform Engineering Strategy, Business Management & Governance ASO 

We seek a driven Business Manager to take ownership of day-to-day business operations, manage recruiting and on-boarding programs, and work with the Head of Platform Engineering and the Platform Engineering (PE) COO to execute on the group’s administrative requirements. Strong candidates will bring an ability to navigate firm systems to manage and execute the business needs of PE. You will take accountability and ownership of every aspect of PE’s on-going operations, including financial management, vendor management and talent management. Success in this role will require developing an end-to-end understanding of the Aladdin ecosystem, and ensuring engineers and operators are empowered to deliver on their objectives to meet both internal and external client obligations. 

  • Work across the leadership team with dedicated focus on highly strategic programs / areas as appropriate: 

  • Team strategy, priorities and objectives 

  • Governance and leadership engagement 

  • Communications 

  • Business and financial management including resource allocation and prioritization 

  • Tech Consulting, Vendor and Software estate management and optimization 

  • Operating model and engagement (governance, leadership forums, offsites) 

  • Team-specific onboarding & recruiting (above and beyond standard AE process)  

  • Connectivity to broader AE forums & governance  

  • Talent and mobility projects 

  • Maximizing operating efficiency 

  • Ad hoc strategic projects 

  • Work closely with the Head of PE and the unit’s COO to track and monitor KPIs, ensuring the execution of business strategy, key projects, and new/transformative initiatives. 

  • Influence our operating model and culture, with a focus on metrics, data and accountability 

  • Lead and help evolve PE’s talent and culture initiatives including recruiting and on-boarding of full-time, intern, and supplier employees; act as a key partner with HR and senior AE leadership to facilitate organizational enhancements to drive success across the business 

  • Partner closely with other critical AE COO functions such as Business Management, Technology Risk, Strategic Initiatives Office, and Technology Ecosystem Engagement where appropriate to drive desired outcomes

  • Executive Presence: Ability to influence outcomes and drive effective results across a multitude of senior stakeholders 

  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate upcoming deliverables and objectives, influence stakeholders and effectively manage projects with lead time, clear and inclusive guidance 

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage diverse set of stakeholders, build long-term relationships, and create a collaborative and approachable environment, especially when working across departments or time sensitivity 

  • Intellectual Curiosity: Strong grasp of content, business models, interest in technology, markets, and geopolitical trends; ability to synthesize large amounts of information, form and test hypotheses and identify opportunities 

  • Problem-solving: Structured critical thinker with superior problem-solving abilities who can organize people under pressure and pull in key decision makers to prioritize issues and respond to clients and senior management 

  • Financial Management: planning, analysis, budgeting, P&L, contract negotiation + oversight, etc. 

  • Project Management: Superb project management experience with complex/cross functional initiatives – the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, navigate trade-offs, adapt to change and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.  

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$105,000.00 - USD$137,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
