Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors). In 2025, Roofstock took an ownership stake in Casago (short-term rental management services), expanding our platform to support both long-term and short-term rental investment services.

About the Team

Data Science and Analytics is a centralized team in the technology organization responsible for supporting analytics, reporting, and machine learning capabilities for Roofstock. We collaborate on a wide variety of product and business problems with Product, Engineering, Operations, and other groups. Our goal is to make sure we are building the most impactful product features and implementing the best operational processes to drive exceptional outcomes for our customers.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented Business Intelligence Analyst to join the Data Science and Analytics team at Roofstock. This role will be responsible for supporting reporting and analytics projects across our entire business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide insights and make data-driven decisions to optimize our business performance. You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets, designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and providing recommendations to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and operationalize KPIs to guide the team
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and develop datasets, reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights and trends effectively
  • Champion a data culture across the company, supporting self-service analytics
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets to identify opportunities and drive decision making
  • Communicate complex and technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in an analytical role
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience with a Business Intelligence tool such as Sigma, PowerBI, Tableau, etc
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL tools such as Snowflake and DBT
  • Proven track record of using data to drive business decisions and solve complex problems
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of AWS
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
  • Previous experience in a start-up or agile environment.

Technologies we like 

  • Bonus points for more extensive experience with Roofstock’s data stack - AWS, Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow, DBT and Sigma

Location

Bay Area/Oakland, CA 

This position is classified as HYBRID within the Greater Oakland Area with an expectation to be in-office on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly.

Compensation

$124,000 - $168,000 annually. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location.

Pay Transparency

Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position.  Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and other job related factors.  Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only part of our total compensation package.
