Jellyvision is hiring a Business Intelligence Analyst

Who we are

We at Jellyvision are the proud parents of ALEX, a platform that saves employees and their employers money by making tricky decisions—like choosing and using employee benefits—less confusing and more enjoyable. The success of ALEX has exceeded our wildest work-related dreams, which is why we need an experienced BI Analyst to help us continue on our journey.

What’s the role?

As a BI Analyst at Jellyvision, you will help the business leverage data to support teams across the organization. You will provide ad-hoc analysis, long-term reporting, and data-driven insights to key stakeholders in Sales, Account Management, Product, Marketing, and Operations. You’ll collaborate closely with Data Engineering to enhance our enterprise data capabilities and solve complex business problems.

What you’ll do to be successful

1.) Deliver robust analytical insight with a “root cause” focus

  • Create reports, visualizations, and dashboards in Looker for internal teams and customer reporting
  • Design and maintain robust data models (DBT and LookML) and transform raw data into analytics-ready formats
  • Work with data from multiple sources: Salesforce, Product Events, Postgres databases, and API artifacts
  • Standardize data definitions and reporting across Looker
  • Maintain data documentation and business metric definitions
  • Proactively identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and insights

We’ll measure success with a reduced number of repeat requests and less reactive/fix requests

2.) Collaborate with key stakeholders

  • Learn the needs of internal stakeholders and deliver ad-hoc analytics and strategic insights
  • Partner with Engineering and Product on API product data pipelines
  • Train business users on data visualization tools and self-service reporting
  • Support and respond to questions from business stakeholders in our #ask-analytics channel

We'll measure success through performance reviews and assessing feedback from peers and stakeholders, and sentiment analysis of our ask-analytics slack channel

Experience & skills you’ll need

  • 4+ years of experience working with data and relational databases
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and quickly shift between tasks
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL, DBT, and LookML
  • Familiarity with our presentation tool: Looker
  • Analytical mindset with a passion for identifying insights and business opportunities
  • Ability to translate technical data into clear, actionable narratives for non-technical audiences

Good to have

  • Educational background in Information Systems, Statistics, Math, Data Science, or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of Python or similar programming languages for data manipulation and automation

 The details

  • Location: Remote
  • Starting Salary: $95,000-$110,000

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
