Location: Remote

Orca’s vision is to build a financial system that puts people first. We envision a future where the majority of global financial transactions are driven by CLAMMs and other Decentralized Finance (DeFi) products. Our ambition reaches beyond becoming the leading provider of financial primitives in crypto—we aim to reshape the foundation of finance itself. We are building the next NASDAQ. If you are someone who is tired of just working another job and wants to build something meaningful, then we invite you to join our team.

This role will report to the Head of Growth. As a BD at Orca, you will be responsible for deepening relationships with partners, win deals to launch new tokens on Orca, and surface high-impact opportunities across Solana. If you live and breathe Solana and have a knack for connecting with teams and communities, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strengthen relationships with current partners by acting as a reliable point of contact, ensuring they are supported.

  • Identify and engage with emerging Solana projects to onboard new tokens and secure Orca as their primary liquidity platform.

  • Explore new business opportunities in the Solana ecosystem to drive meaningful revenue for Orca.

  • Act as an evangelist and public face for Orca — on calls, at conferences, and across social platforms.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, and operations to bring new opportunities to life.

  • Stay on top of the latest trends, conversations, and innovations across DeFi and Solana.

What You’ll Bring:

Requirements

  • Deep familiarity with the Solana ecosystem and DeFi protocols.

  • A genuine crypto-native mindset — you’re on Twitter/X, reading newsletters, listening to podcasts, and active in Telegram/Discord Groups.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple conversations and projects.

  • Self-starter who loves meeting people and making things happen.

  • You're naturally curious, humble, and eager to grow. You believe in the promise of decentralized finance and want to help shape its future.

Preferred

  • 1–2 years of experience in business development, sales, investor relations, or related fields.

  • Strong network and relationships within the Solana ecosystem.

  • Working knowledge of AMMs, CLMMs, and DeFi market structure.

What Orca offers

  • Salary: 50,000 - 65,000 USD (Range for US employees)

  • Token allocation: 10,000 - 20,000 ORCA over 4 years (Range for US employees)

  • Home office stipend.

  • Wellness stipend.

  • Option to work remotely or from Orca’s office in New York City.

  • Paid subscriptions to GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or other tools that make you more productive.

  • Unlimited vacation days and sick days.

Our Hiring Process:

We like to be transparent and efficient. We move fast, and this process will be short and intense. We believe this process gives candidates the best experience in getting decisions quickly instead of long, drawn out interview rounds that last weeks.

Initial Screen (30 min)

This will be for us to get an understanding of your experiences and test your knowledge of Solana and DeFi. It is also an opportunity for you to learn more about the role and company.

Hiring Manager Round (60 min)

Ki (Head of Growth) will do a deep dive on product, business and ecosystem and perspectives.

Final Round (60 min each)

These will be open-ended discussions with Nathan (CEO) and Riku (BD).

Our stack

  • Rust, Timescale, Postgres

  • Next.js, Typescript, Zustand, Tailwind

  • Solana's Geyser plugin, Yellowstone gRPC

  • Solana smart contracts using Anchor

  • Terraform, AWS ECS, Datadog, Vercel

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
